It wasn't dominant. It wasn't even very pretty. But the Bears are going to the NFC championship game.
What did you think, Bears fans?

BEARS, BABY!!! BEARS!!! BEARS!!! '
BEARS!!!
NO MORE NAYSAYING, NO MORE CARPING. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY MORE OF THIS NONSENSE. NONBELIEVERS CAN SHUT THEIR MOUTHS OR PUT ON SAINTS JERSEYS, 'CAUSE THESE BEARS ARE FOR REAL.
(Sorry, it's been a long game. Gotta blow off some steam.)
I won't say "crown their @$$" just yet , but close.
Game over!!!!See,Dallas, this is how you kick a field goal. MVP is good as GOULD. GO BEARS!!!
Another win over another bad mediocre team. Keep it going for another week and then you never know.
The Saints will be the acid test. There's no reason why the Bears shouldn't win at home against New Orleans, but I doubt I'll be able to find a fan who'll bet the Bears cover the spread. That's assuming the home team is the favorite by kick-off.
The Bears played just bad enough to keep the critics chirping for another week.
A lot of negative bloggers out there coming into this game. I love this playoff win not only because we are going to the NFC championship game but also because it will shut up all of those fair weather Bear fans out there. The Bears showed me a lot today. Oh, and today especially showed why we need Rex as our QB. Sometimes you actually need an offense to win a game for you.
\
So...what's the next excuse for the Lovie-bashers? Now that Lovie has officially led the team to an improved season, done something that a Bears coach hasn't done in over a decade, and has the team within one win of the Super Bowl--for what reason should Lovie be fired again?
Unless today's victory was Rex's doing, because no win could ever be because of the coaching staff.
Roman, I'm not sure what you mean by the game "not being very pretty"--with the exception of the boneheaded drops by Berrian and Muhammad (both of which could have cost the Bears the game) and Grossman's fumble, I thought today's game was a well-played, hard-fought game. Seattle came to play, but the Bears did, too, and they came out on top.
Roman responds: There were drops and there were passes thrown behind the receivers. But OK, I can see where Bears fans can find the beauty in this game. It's been a while since you guys could celebrate a playoff win, so enjoy.
NO way Bears get to SB! Another runner gets over 100 yards against their overrated defense. Reggie and Duece will rule!
What i saw was heart, determination, and a championship will to win and i'm proud to be a bears fan.We are not done yet.Names are made in the postseason and of rex can play one more game like he did this season's debacle will be forgotten.I live in new orleans and have seen the saints all year and i must say the bears must pick it up a little on d to win against them. My heart says the bears got over the hump and now that baltimore and san diego lost i feel they are the favorites to win it all.Lovie made some great calls today and turner let rex do his thing.Confidence high and super bowl motivation = DA BEARS ALL THE WAY.
was an excellent game a real booster for the bears all you critical people need to shut up and stop with all this squaking "well if the beat the saints they will be for real" what? acid test? buddy youre on acid this is the greatest ball since 88 be happy we are in it
I was really impressed by the clutch play of the Bears. Rex played better down the stretch than Matt Hasselbeck, who went to the Super Bowl last year. Rex's third-and-ten pass to Davis was huge, and I think it will be a real turning point for him. The D had problems all day, but they stepped it up when they had to and got the big stops. Robbie Gould's 49 yarder in OT proved his mettle in a tight situation. I agree with Sal that the Bears got over the hump on this one. They made the right plays at the right time, and beat a desperate team and a great coach. Their ability to execute when it counted today should be a real confidence booster for them.
2 more games baby!! I didn't think this was an ugly game at all. Both teams played hard. I think this game gets them (BEARS) over the hump also. That 1st playoff victory was huge for them. They had to sit and listen for 2 weeks how they were going to be 1 and done, how bad the D was playing and how Rex was the worst QB in the Playoffs. They were under tremendous pressure. Now they have no pressure because now ESPN and all the So-called experts are going to talk all week about the Saints coming to Chicago and beating the Bears. Heck, they're already starting it. The Saints are going to have to prove it. I have to give big ups to Rex and Rasheed Davis. They came up big in this game.
Congrats, Bear fans. You pulled this one off. But you have to admit, the Seahawks came in as big underdogs w a rag-tag defense and nearly took it. But you won and now you play a good Saints team next week. Still, the best player for Chicago will always be Walter Payton. Good luck next week...
without tank johnsons crucual getting to Matt hasselsack or cedric bensons strong runs the seahawks might have one ,dIDNT ALOT OF BEARS PSEUDO-FANS WANT bENSON FIRED FOR HAVING THE WRONG "LOOK"AND THE WAY THE MEDIA AND SOME FANS TOOK OFF ON THE Tank JOHNSON DEBACLE YOU WOULD OF THOUGT HE WAS ON GREEN BAY OR SOMETHING.i AM SURE THEY WERE GLAD TO HAVE TANK AND Benson around today...Goooo Bearsssssss! beat dem Saints they should be called 'aints 'cause they aint winning nothing this way.....A real fan
Grade:
Grossman = C+, Take the sack
Gould = A+, nuff said
Defense = B, Stop the run
Mohamed = C , Catch the ball
Berrian = A, speed kills!
Tank Johnson = B- Too bad he's going to jail. LOL
R. Manning Jr.= B, good intercept, my grandma could have caught that.
Ron Turner = B , For calling a semi-conservative game for Grossman. Ah hello, depleted secondary, throw deep more!
Benson = B, descent yards. (Good grade for stopping his complaining, "I wanna playyyy")
T. Jones = B, quit dancin, hit the hole!
overall = C+ - B-, pins & needles
Gonna need what I saw today to go all the way!
Whew, that was close, played just well enough to get by. After watching saints on saturday, unless the bears play their varsity team against the saints, the joy won't last long.
Hey,Roman , when you were grading the BEARS you said that calling timeout with 2 seconds left was dumb. It wasn't, because it was 4th and 18. They should've called it when they had more time on the clock. At midfield they would have to punt of go for it. If they went for it and it didn't work they would've had just enough time to go on O and make a Hail Mary pass with about 2 seconds to go. Someone didn't call time out earlier. I was at home calling Timeout when there was about 16 seconds left. They actually let about 12 seconds elapse before they called it. What was bizarre was leaving Benson in when they were blitzing. Jones just pick it up better. I wondered if Mckie's ankle was bothering him because the TE Reed was in at times. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't try better plays when we got the ball back with a minute left in regulation. I thought it was goon be over earlier. I was just drained the rest of the day after watching this game. GO BEARS!!!
Roman responds: Lovie admitted it was a mistake.
Whatever! The Bears are just building up hopes just to slap fans in the face again losing in the end. The higher the hope, the harder the let down. So if the slap in the face doesn't come in the next game with a Bears loss, it will come in the super bowl. That will be the sweetest slap in the face to Bears fans. Bears fans will soon be crying. And they'll all be saying "Maybe the Bears will win a super bowl next year".
we were hoping for a seahawk win to get another game in the dome, but, we'll take soldier field,no problem. if we want to be the best, we have to beat the best. go saints.
I always thought Lovie liked Grossman because he looks so good in practice. Well, yesterday was like a practice. Seattle was a team severely weakened by injuries to key players.
Unfortunately they will play against a real team next week.
Enjoy this week. Next week you get to play against a real offense.
Ok the Bears won. I'm still not on the Rex Grossman bandwagon yet. He still makes throws he shouldn't or throws behind his recievers. He got lucky on that one play early in the game where the ball was deflected. Bigger than all that he insist on throwing into double coverage. C'mon all you "I love Rex" t-shirt wearers, get a grip. He still is not that good.
Rex showed fear anytime he was under pressure by the opposition. This fear made him fumble once, and to readily hurry passing thrown to no one but the dirt and nearing Seahawk defenders. He still lacks confidence. When barely touched by a defender he let's the football loose as if he's saying to the defender, "here you can have it". He needs to rectify this. He also threw some soft passes that had nothing on them usually the ones he throws 10/15 yards. Rex I feel will be find and better in a few years. He has tremendous upside/potential, once he truly get confidence in the NFL. Our defense sorely missed Harris and Brown. I predict the Bears will surprise the Media and Beat New Orleans.
Now Grossman haters SHUT UP!!!!!
We should enjoy it while we can. The Bears D looked brutal for 3 quarters and the O took the 2H off. Forget about "good or bad Rex" - how about "good or bad O line" - he was running for his life the entire 2H. Saints by 10....
With some of the calls the refs were making I thought I was watching a bunch of Chicago politicians working their machine.
OH MY GOD!!! I hate living on the east coast when my Chicago teams, especially DA BEARS are playng!! I love my hometown and my bears!!! Long live Sweetness!!! Let's go bears!!!
Let's go bears!!!
The Bears got to the end of the job. If they stay focused and keep the momentum going, they will succeed.
I grew up in Northbrook, and now live in New York. If they screw up this year, I become a New York Giants Fan!
You have a much better web site then the tribune. thanks
Note to those dissing Grossman. INT may have been a TD pass had Moose actually caught the darn ball (probably would have been stopped). Also, a sure TD was dropped by Berrian as well. True the ball wasn't perfectly thrown, however it should have been caught (he had plenty of time to react to the ball, just didn't turn correctly). If those two passes went for TDs (and not a pick), his rating would have been 114 (which shows you how worthless that statistic really is). Even if Moose would have just caught the ball and was stopped at the 1 yard line it would be a 105. Pretty crazy huh?
Why didn't we call a timeout with 0:19 left in the game (as opposed to 0:02) with Hester our return man? Because he could have fumbled it (which would be a legit argument watching most of the times he touched the ball)? Regardless, I thought that would have been a no brainer...especially with 2 timeouts left, we could have returned it to the 40 or so (or for a TD) with 7 or 8 seconds left and thrown a 20 yard out route to stop the clock...yes, risky, but exciting as well. It was a risky proposition for the Seahawks getting the ball in OT too!
Also, Chris Harris played terribly. Why did Todd Johnson not start? Harris was the reason Alexander rushed for over 100 yards. With runs up the middle it's absolutely necessary for a safety to come up and make a play prior to the running back getting 12 yards downfield. I suppose one could give credit to great blocking to get him that deep, but I think Todd Johnson would have done better (what I wouldn't give to see Mike Brown play in a playoff game).
Mike B. (mike b dot)
My prediction for N.O. next weekend - Bears 35, Saints 10, Bush has one lost fumble and the Bears intercept 3 passes...
Much has been made about Grossman making bad decisions it should be remembered for all practical purposes he's a rookie quarterback. I know this might break the bank of McCaskey but hiring a QB coach would do a world of good for this kid. The D is giving up too many yards rushing as well to stop any of the rest of the teams in the playoffs so far. A decent win however bad the Seahags may be next week is the test.
If Berrian had caught his 2nd td pass, it would have cemented my choice of him as MVP. I was close on the score: BEARS 27 Seadogs 16. Good win but I would love to see them play a game without little breakdowns (Moose drop, Berrian drop). They're close so I'm just enjoying the win.
All currency in Chicago this week should read "In Gould We Trust". Rex Grossman played great and should treat the NFC Championship game just as he treated this one. He had 3 or 4 dropped passes and who can you blame for the int.??? He could have easily passed for over 300 yds. with 2 TD"s and zero int's. Keep up the great work Rex. From one Hoosier to another. Da Bears.
I was impressed! These wins won't be domination like some people think. The Bears will win against the Saints because the Saints are a dome carpet cutting running team. They will be sacred of the shape of our frozen sod. The bears will bend and they will slow down the run enough to win the game. I like the 46 defense that Rivera loves so much as the star of the day! The 46 allows them to do alot against Bush and duece, Bsuh does not scare me, duece does. But then look what happened to Tomlinson everyone said they would dsetroy the Pats!
Bears have to improve their defense against the blitz,The offensive line was not blocking well against the rush/blitzing bt Seattle.Peanuts play an improved game and Benson continues to imptove.Platine Bob
We should enjoy it while we can. The Bears D looked brutal for 3 quarters and the O took the 2H off. Forget about "good or bad Rex" - how about "good or bad O line" - he was running for his life the entire 2H. Saints by 10....
Got it done, and will git it done..(Benson & Jones)
What I don't understand, is the complete disrespect that the Bears get from ESPN.com!! They act as if the other three teams left never had a down game, ie. Saints lose to Redskins, Pats shutout by Dolphins, Colts ripped by Jags and lose to Texans at home. Grossman had the best game of all QB's this weekend against the same depleted defensive backs that shut down Glenn and T.O. So no matter what the "Experts" say about the Bears being the softest team left ala Gene Wojewhateverski, that argument can be made of all three teams.
It doesn't matter how it goes, the Bears did something special yesterday. It's time to stop overrating the Saints also. They're a dome team coming to a poor weather area and they won't be as fast as they were on Saturday.
By 1 or 100 a win is still a win. If the Bears win 2 more by 3 or less will the nay-sayers still be saying Rex played just good enough not to lose while He and the rest of the Bears are showing off their Championship rings?
Great Game guys you came through when it counted!!
There has been a lot of negativity with the bears, some of it justified due to their question marks at QB and defensive lapses... but in the end, isn't it all about winning the game???? Sure they didn't play perfect, there was a lot of things that they need to work on, but THEY WON!
It think as chicago sports fans, when are teams do win (which is rare...) they usually do it in dominating fashion, like the '05 soxs, '85 bears, and the bulls 6 championships... maybe we can't take a team that has flaws but battles to win. We want them to breeze through the playoffs and on to the championships... Cmon naysayers, enjoy the win!! Yeah we have flaws, but bottom line is that we won!
A 'W' is a 'W'. The Bears' defense had some keys plays but overall, they weren't good enough this week to be the Saints next week. There was very little pass rush and they couldn't contain Alexander. If we get this kind of defensive perfomance next week, then the offense will need to score 30 - 35 points to win the game. If the defense of September / October shows up, then I think the Bears will need to score 26 points to win next week.
Da Bears, had to struggle, to barely beat Philadelphia, in over-time, at home. The Saints, are a much better team than Philly, and Da Bears!
A Realistic Bears Fan
By 1 or 100 a win is still a win. Great Game guys!
I grew up in north central Illinois and have lived in New Orleans the past 25 years. The Saints are for real and the Bears are going to have to surpass them emotionally and physically if they're going to win. Saints offense vs. Bears defense favors N.O. If the Bears don't pressure Brees they're going to get killed. Also, Bears need to run the ball because Saints are vulnerable. Local media here in N.O. suggests that Bears should just forfeit the game. Payton tells Saints not to eat the cheese--if they do, Bears will beat them. I have the feeling that the game will go down to the wire--the team that blinks will lose.
GO BEARS!!!
I'd like to now why the Bears never line up in the shotgun offense. I think it would buy more time for Grossman.
Roman responds: Grossman doesn't like it.
Congrats to the Bears from a diehard Seahawks fan. I'm proud that my Hawks proved to be a worthy opponent but the Bears played the better game in the end.
Be prepared, Bears fans, for the tide of sentiment to turn against you. Everyone's gushing about Jerome Bettis coming home for his Super Bowl last year made Seattle an after-thought... New Orleans is going to be 10x worse with their post-Katrina pathos. Your crowd is going to have to make the difference...I believe that the true tie-breaker in yesterday's game was the crowd. All things being equal, if that game is played at Qwest the crowd there gives Seattle the win. There is a reason teams play for home field advantage, utilize it.
I can tell you from experience, there is no greater feeling than being in the stadium watching your team win the game that takes them to the Super Bowl. Best of luck to you!
Win is a freaking win! Doesn't matter how it's done!
With that said, they need to pull Chris Harris... He doen't cover enough field for there cover 2 scheme and he sucks in run D. Where is Todd Johnson?
Enjoy the victory now boys, 'cause it will end next Sunday when Deuce and the Saints march all over you.
We Bear fans just don't believe we can't win unless we are shutting out every other team. The last time the Bears got this far was with the most phenominal team in history ... this team isn't the '85 Bears, they are just a damn good team that makes plays when it has to.
Before anyone come on this blog and say that the BEARS have no chance you have to ask yourself did the AFC and the Saints/Philly games go the way you thought? These experts were saying that The Eagles would win, that the Ravens would shut down Indy and that the Chargers were gonna run roughshod all over the Pats. I think I'll just wait for the games to be played before I give anyone anymore credit for knowing so much about expectations. As a fan I'm just gonna believe that my team is gonna win, regardless. I think I'll just take that as a fact and spend the rest of the week believing. GO BEARS!!!
Congrats to the Bears. You hung in there to win. Against a team playing with out 3 d back starters and using two guys off the street on defense. Grossman good game.Yah right! It should have been like the first outing. Bears will need all the luck in the world against the Saints.
Hey people of Chicago lets have FAITH in our team! Its a win! Thier is no Domanatig team ! The saints have to prove they can win in Chicago! I believe they can'T win in CHICAGO! I have FAITH in our DEFENCE and REX! We are 14-3 now lets be 15 and win GO BEARS!!! I miss CHICAO your Texas San Antonio FAN!!!!!
Your right, about me picking the Seahawks winning Sunday. But guess what? For all of you ahem, pro's who bellyache about Tilman, he played a damn good game. I hope Gastric Brees has the audacity to throw his way more often than not. It'll be +10 points for the Bears. They have not proved anything to me, but to be able to beat a mediocre 10-6 or 9-7 team..... Sunday will not even be a test. But if they scratch past the Aints, AFC teams will destroy this hapless team...
in the playoffs, everyone is giving their 110 percent. seahawks gave us a good fight but we still won. in the end thats all that matters. if berrian catches that one catch he dropped hes gone for six. and if mushin is able to come down with the one that bounces off his shoulder pad thats probably another 3. Seattle got some breaks, our def made stops when it needed to although it has to play much better to beat the saints. the saints are gonna have a tough time coming to soldier field in 30 degree weather w/ maybe some snow. if the eagles defense can hold new orleans to 27 points IN NEW ORLEANS...dont give me this crap that they'll score 30 points on the bears...the bears really only gave up 2 tds cuz one came off grossmans fumble (take the sack grossman)..if they can make some adjustments im predictin another dogfight w/ trading scores because guess what guys:
rex has got his swagger back and we are playing the saints def...personally i think they have a very crappy pas def and a meh rushing def...throw it all day baby...then mix in a little t jones and c benz n we arright
everyone saw what happened when we come out running...2 wr, single back, fake to jones, berrian wide open all day son....
bears: 31
saints: 20
devin hester returns one punt for a td
2 ints, 2 fumble rec for the bears def.
rex w/ 2 tds n no ints
t jones 70 yards n a td
c benz 65 yards on 12 carries
Hey, Tom Brady had 3 interceptions 1/14/07 and no one in Massachusetts is likely to call him "Bad Tom." Do Chicago fans really think there's such a thing as a perfect quarterback? Try putting on that oversized jock strap yourself before you nag a guy who threw for 288 yards.
Everyone keeps talking about Bad Rex, Good Rex, etc. How about Good Line, Bad Line. When the offensive line takes care of Rex, he is great. When they don't, everyone pays. Why hasn't there been enough attention paid to the line? They need to take care of Rex!!!!!! For a Line that has been hailed as one of the best, it sure doesn't seem that they are earning their reputation.
And defense......time to play like you used to, no time left for anything less.
I want to be positive about DA BEARSSS,but it's tough when you watch our qb bouncing up & down on just about every pass play as if to try and see over the defensive line. He looks like a little kid trying to see over a group of taller people! The only time he DOESN'T do this is when he drops back smoothly and has all the time in the world to complete a pass. Watch for this in the next game. Where is #32? After outgaining # 20 per yard, he was nowhere to be seen! If we let a depleted team like the Seahawks score 24 what happens when the defense faces the best offense in the league? C'mon you guys..don't let us down this week!!! Put some pressure on Brees and let him know THE MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY mean business!!!
More Bears Kool-Aide please!! Streamwood Frank
the pass rush from the Saints will knock Rex right out of the game. better start some practice reps with Griese this week.
The Saints were only 2-2 on grass this year and both wins were in September. Any moisture or trouble with the footing will negate most of their speed attack. On carpet Bush's speed is scary...but in the slop he's just another fumbler. As a Purdue fan I watched Breese in person a number of times, and I can tell you first hand he isn't nearly as good in cold weather. Remember Purdue season in the Midwest ends by mid-November! The kid is from Texas and won't handle the cold well at all. Duece is the only real threat the Bears will have to combat. A little help from the weather God's and all the Bears have to do is stop Duece and they will roll.
if the bears beard had a 10-6 record theyd be labeled the worst and most inconsistent losers ever and would have no chance against a 13-3 team on the road. yet the saints are doing exactly that and they get labeled consistent, and the best all around team in the nfc. do folks just got something against the bears or something?
Who dat?, dat goin` da beat da Saints? DA BEARS!!LOL!!! Rematch of Superbowl XX!!! Gotta love it! Bring on Dem Patriots, so, "WE" can beat da ass again!!LOL!!! I am salivating, just waiting to see this 4 receiver set; Muhammed/Berrian/Bradley & "HESTER"! yoh!! U Can`t Touch This!!!! LOL!! Even dos neandering nebobbs of negativity gotta love it. LOL!!! oooooooooooohhhhhyyeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Northwest Indiana, there is another team not too far from you that you should be rooting for. Especially, since they get a portion of your tax money.
Roman responds: First of all, I'm neutral. Secondly, it's been 10 years since the Hoosiers got any of my money. Thirdly, even when I did live in the Region, we were more Chicago than Indiana. You know that. What news do you get? What stations do you get? Chicago.
What numbr does Gould wear? Need I say more?
Jimmy Mac is Back , ala KICKER this time.
Great heart and confidence can over come obstacles.
Go BEARS
Thoughts on the game:
Grossman played well, not great, but better than I could have hoped for....good for him and us....a couple of better passes & not stupidly losing that fumble and maybe things wouldn't have been so close
Too much Jones, not enough Benson
The secondary did play better with all of their personnel back, but an earlier poster was right, Chris Harris missed a lot of tackles and was late in coverage a few times....Todd Johnson should start next week
Tank Johnson made a game-saving play at the end of regulation, but overall the Bears didn't get much of a pass rush and blitzed too much up the middle (which wasn't very effective) and not enough from the corners
While the pass defense was better, the run defense, again, had problems...this week two good runners come to town
I didn't see anything special on offense or defense this week, the Seahawks came up with a different defensive scheme (see here) and it confused the Bears offensive line. I haven't hear the Seahawks saying, "Well, we had never seen ______ before and it took us a while to adjust to it". That is due to coaching.
Overall, the Bears offense has to play better (more rushing yards and over 300 passing yards) next week and the defense has to play much better (less than 100 yards rushing, at least three turnovers) in order to have any chance of winning.
Bears Win! Bears Win! One more victory at home and we're in the Super Bowl!
And if you think they almost killed us fans with all the drama and last-second field goal to win in OT, why don't you ask the fans of Dallas, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and especially San Diego, how they feel this morning? Oh, thats right, they're all LOSERS, but WE are in the FINAL FOUR!
Predictions? Bears edge Saints, Colts edge Pats, to set up the ALL-MIDWEST SUPER BOWL 2007!! You heard it here first! DA BEARS!!!
The Bears got lucky. Seattle is a bad team? Doesn't say much for Chicago at home, does it. DA weak Bears almost got it handed to them by half a team in the injured Seahawks. I thought Grossman played well. It was Seahawk mistakes that lost this game, not any Bears clutch moments. GO SAINTS!
The problem won't be the Saints...it will be the AFC.
Okay, we did better than: San Diego Chargers, Philidapheia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys. This is the "playoffs" and players/team play with a new determination. We have our injuries; despite these, we prevailed. We will beat New Orleans. The formula: Cold, Chicago Fans, and the Bears overall determination that equals_"D"
I am a 28 year season ticket holder for the Seahawks. I think the Bears defense deserves credit for stopping the Seahawks on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 a couple of times. The Seahawks were within 10 yards of wrapping up a win on two seperate occasions. I think the Seahawks played their butts off and damn near pulled it off. The Seahawks were more physical than the Bears all day. Good luck to the Bears, winning isnt everything it is the 'only' thing. The Seahawks deserve some respect from yall in Chi-Town I think.
I've been a Bear fan all my life, but I'm a realist. They lost to a bad Packer team, had their hands full with an awful lot of mediocre teams the last half of the season or so, including a loss to the terrible Fins.
I'd be delighted if we beat the Saints next week, but I'd feel a whole lot better if Mike Brown and Tommie Harris were suiting up.
I hope that Lovie has a quick hook ready in case bad Rex shows up.
Grossman stepped up and played well...performing under pressure from the Seattle defense.
My oncerns for this very talented team are with Lovie Smith and Ron Rivera.
Smith's calling a timeout with :02 on the clock at the half would be considered "dufus like" in high school. Rivera doesn't seem to prepare the defense properly for some of these opponents.
Like many, I'm OK if Rivera goes as there are many DCoordinators who would love to coach the talented Bears defense.
Jury still out on Rex. He maybe adult in age but not there yet mentally. When he makes a bad trough, or play he has this serk, as a teenager. On Fox sports last night he said "yu know" so many times, no I do not know you'r tell me. For someone who went to collage he can not speak. Gould was interviewed and he spoke very well. He could get a job in TV sport.
Rex not sure what he will be doing after Football.
Let's see which Rex shows up Sunday, hope is good Rex and not his twin brother smucko.
"We win one game and we're in the Super Bowl," Grossman said, "two wins away from having a ring on my finger for the rest of my life." "I", on "my". This speaks volumes on this guy's character and perspective. Even in a win this guy needs to be bashed.
Go Bears! Win this thing then leave grossman in Florida when you return.
who dat?Tank Johnson tackling Matt hasselsack to put the game in overtime so Gould could have a chance to make that game winning kick.....signed:not a pseudo-fan but a real fan...GOooooo!!!!Bearsssss!!!!
Bears pulled out another one..I am so sick of hearing the SAME people say over and over again, "Wait for the Saints, Wait for the Saints". It's the same group of jokers that said "Wait for Seattle, Wait forSeattle". When are the naysayers gonna stop hatin' and start lovin cuz Da Bears are, have been and will continue to be the real deal. GO BEARS ~ - Stop the Run and we're as good as GOLD.
great game!--the old cliche' "that's why they play the game..." truly held for this one, as no one ('cept for us diehard, old school, Seawawks fans) gave the Seattle boys a chance. May the BEST team win next week and take the AFC out of the Superbowl!
Re: "B"
You realize Grossman said "we" twice, right?
Roman, you asked what boneheaded thing Lovie did...well, he should have called a timeout with 0:19 left as opposed to 0:02, but that doesn't warrant firing by any means. I swear, we need to hire someone that plays poker and had studied game theory to tutor coaches. Andy Reid handled the end of the game against N.O. very poorly. Should have gone for the TD with 6:00 left, no question about it. Then, it was 4th and 10 and he was going to go for it at the 50, yet he punts it after the 5 yard penalty? What the heck was that about? If you're counting on stopping the other team from getting a first down, why not go for it? If you can't stop the first down you lose anyway. That was a move that I would have been completely ticked at had Lovie pulled it...
Go TANK
Frank, I'll bet the Bears cover the spread and knock down Bush enough times to come away with a 31-17 victory enroute to the Super Bowl. The Saints are not "super" and the Bears are simply better.
before we start talking about how weak Seattle's D is, let's point out how they were able to shut down Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, and Tony Romo. Yeah, they hired some CB's off the street. But they played good ball.
before we start talking about how New Orleans is going to slaughter the Bears, let's remember this is a team that got soundly beaten by the Redskins, and whom Philadelphia took to the wire without Donovan McNabb or Jevon Kearse.
The Saints can run. They can pass. Whether or not they can score when it counts remains to be seen; if nothing else, this Bears squad seems to be able to score and stop teams from scoring when it counts.
Frankly, with San Diego and Baltimore out of the picture, the Super Bowl is now wide, wide open. Inside track goes to New England (the only remaining team that's been there in the last decade), but I don't care how adept Tom Brady is at figuring out how to win, he doesn't have as good a team around him anymore.
I'm starting to believe, folks--I'm not going to buy tickets to Miami just yet, but even the most benighted fairweather Lovie-bashing "fan" has to admit it's possible.
This was a well played hard fought game by both teams and a fun game to watch. It was a much closer game than I thought it would be. You have to applaud the Seahawks for almost pulling the upset. The Bears defense let them get back in the game with 10 points to start the second half. Have to give credit to Hasselbeck and the offense for their play calling and execution on their scoring drives. I'll bet Sean Payton is looking at those drives very closely. With that said, the Bears defense really came up big the rest of the game, shutting them down when they had to. Rex and the offense played well, scoring enough points and making plays at important times. Sure he made a couple mistakes, but look at the stats of the other QB's playing this weekend. Rex probably played the best. The Bears defense will have to be better and the offense at least the same to beat the Saints. I'd like to see Todd Johnson start at safety (better than Harris against the run) and see more of Benson on the offense. Also, the defense has to do a better job of covering the seams of their cover 2 defense. The Saints fans (I looked at one of their blogs)are very confident that they'll have no trouble beating the Bears. I say "Bring them on", the Bears win another nailbiter.
Note 1: Everyone please stop talking about Bear weather. I gave up on that after the 49er's kicked our butts in the '88 championship game.
Note 2: Should Tank Johnson start celebrating sacks the way Tim Harris of the Packers used to?
Roman responds: The thing about "Bear Weather," as has been pointed out in my paper a couple of times, is this team is built on speed. And speed teams don't like sloppy tracks.
Seattle was lucky last week. This week their luck ran out. The Bears were lucky this week, again. Will their luck run out next week? Maybe not, it keeps on following them. They've been lucky all season. But if they face a good team that plays well luck won't be enough. I'd say it's certain one of the next two opponents will be too much for lucky Lovie and his underachieving team. Enjoy the win. This could be the pinnacle of the season. Thank Lovie now for taking what should have been an 18-1 Super Bowl Champion and turning it into a 14-4 NFC runner up. I'd like to see a new contract for the head coach. A new head coach. I know you Lovie lovers think he's wonderful but this is at least where we should have been last season. They fell short. They should have been 11-5 in 2004 but fell short. They will fall short this year. When one or both of his coordinators leaves the wheels will fall off the bandwagon, unless the Bears hire good replacements that take over so Lovie can stand around with his thumb up his behind and take all the credit. Winning a playoff game by being lucky is great. But it proves nothing and does not make a team, players or coaches any better than they really are. One thing about the post season from this point on is that the best team usually wins. Not the one that's been riding the luck truck. Now, N.O. has been a hard luck team since day one. I don't see that disappearing completely. But they are almost as talented as the Bears, are better coached and have been playing better than the Bears. They should win.
Roman responds: Where do I start? Ok, let me start with your argument midway through the season when we were comparing Lovie to Ditka. You said Ditka was much better because he won a playoff game in his third season and Lovie wouldn't. Remember? Your argument now loses a ton of credibility. It simply smacks of a personal vendetta. It took Ditka three seasons to make the playoffs. Lovie did it in two and won one in three with a better regular-season percentage. If you would just give the guy credit sometimes, it wouldn't come off as a personal attack.
This game is beyond words. A win is a win. We are one win away from the Super Bowl. The Bears are ready!
I want them to win as bad as anyone- shouldnt Super Bowl teams should dominate in some way? Be a little consistent? This thing is up for grabs, and if your not scared you should be.
I just loved the way Grosman handled the job
Is it true there were 6,000+ empty seats. I'm disappointed and I hope we can fill those seats by next Sunday.
Nevertheless, the win feels really, really good. I ffel like I got the gorilla off my back I can't imagine how Grossman feels. In the playoffs, it doesn't matter how you do it. Seattle played their butts off and had Holmgreen (or HolmRED from what I saw on t.v) handed the ball to Alexander earlier in the game I might have been crying at the end of the game instead of screaming. But, we did it. One more win before we can hear Wojiehowski??? and the rest of the ESPN crew (except for da coach) say the bears are the worst 15-3 team ever to make the Superbowl.
That said, I can't wait to see Bush try to make a cutack on our turf. Now that's what I call home field advantage.
GO BEARS!!!
Bearssss 88, Saintssss 2 ,,,,, is ditka coaching? Oh he's not? well then, Bearssss 87 Saintsssss 3....
DOC..
You are the most arguementative person I have ever seen on these blogs.
Grossman showed stones in this game, he could have folded several times, but stood tall, and made the pass he needed to make. Great job Rex on offense, and well done Urlacher directing this DEFENSE. MVP..Duo of Grossman and Urlacher. Hester needs to grow up, and fast!!!
Roman responds: Give a co-MVP nod to Thomas Jones. Not only did he score twice, but knocking down that potential interception was a game-saver.
I think it's amusing to hear Bears fans talk about their team. It's laughable that after one win in the playoffs against a team they should have blown out, fans are talking about winning the Superbowl again. I guess that hapens when your team has only been to the Superbowl one time. The Bears have problems-serious problems! They have gotten lucky and had more than their share of penalties go their way. I know your response...a win is a win. my response is beat a decent team and they will get respect. They had the softest schedule in the NFL and played a team that didn't deserve to be there (courtesy of Tony Romo blunder). As a fan of football I know my team and I know when they are vulnerable. I'ts too bad that I can't say the same for Chicago fans. I wouldn't hate the Bears as much if fans didn't declare them the best after a win against a lousy team. In a game anybody can win, but the reality is that the Bears will need a lot of help from the officials, from God (weather), and praying that the good teams that they will now face will give them the victory. Their defense is a mess and Rex is still inconsistent and unproven (winning against a terrible Seahawks team proves nothing). I feel that the ignorant Bears fans will be dissapointed when it's all over, but if they do pull it off, then congrats to the ones that know this team is not as good as the hype. I feel bad for your team and their one Superbowl appearance. I guess that explains the obnoxious fans I run into every day!
Roman responds: Hang in there Robert. The odds are you won't have to deal with the Tuna and T.O. next season. One will leave. But at least you'll have Romo back ... oops, sorry.
So, let me see if I have this right. The Saints who played a weaker schedule, and lost twice to the sorry, pathetic Panthers are supposed to walk all over Chicago, sorry I do not think so!!
Da Bears took a depleted team that were 9 point underdogs to overtime to win;The defense has been giving up 300-plus yards to teams like Detroit,Minnesota ans the Pack. The early line has the bears a 3-point favorite.By gametime it will be even or they will be an underdog.I just don't see them stopping Brees & Co.Still,it was fun while it lasted.
If you wanna crown their a** then go ahead and crown their a**!@?
You Bears aren't as strong as the media makes you guys to be. The Seahawks didn't even have all their starters healthy and you "bearly" beat them!! How Pathetic. You better enjoy this one because the Saints will have all of their starters ready for you and there won't be any Super Bowl return for you. MUHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
This debate about who belongs, who got lucky, yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah is getting old fast. The point is the bears, saints, colts and patriots are the 4 best teams in the nfl because they are in the conference championship games. It doesn't matter who they beat to get there or how they did it, they are here and give repect were respect is due.Teams don't luck into these games. They win there ass' into them. All the games this weekend were decided by single digits.Did all the teams who won get lucky? If you seattle fans want to really talk about lucky how about romo or bb dropping a wide open pass that would of been 6 or moose knocking that ball in the air so you guys can get a int or that bs call on the bears for the block in the back on hesters return.Come on get a grip! Now that said i'm going to enjoy that my bears are in the conference championship. We have a hell of a dog fight ahead of us and anybody that knows football should understand that we cannot play against the saints the way we did the hawks and expect to win. It's gonna be another close game and i think the bears learned a lot from this past game to push them into the super bowl.
P.S. give lovie some respect after all he has the final say so over game plans and its his defense that rivera runs so his coordinators aren't the genius' he is.
Bears will cover spread and will lose to a real team.
Roman responds: Wait, the Bears are favored at this point. If they cover the spread, they win. Unless you're talking about the Super Bowl. Or are you assuming the Saints will be favored by game day?
So tired of hearing mindless and/or emotionally driven detractions of my Bears team. New Orleans is hardly the juggernaut everyone is making them out to be. Oh I forgot, they put up their usual 100 points on the Eagles right? Wrong, they put up 27 on a Lito Sheppard-less, Jovan Kearse-less Philadelphia defense that pales in comparison to the INJURED Bears defense. Not to mention the Saints' defense, or lack thereof. Their starting secondary is worse than Seattle's was with all of their injuries. The only way to hurt the Bears offense is to stop them up front, and put pressure on Rex. Maybe everyone forgot about Grant Wistrom, Rocky Bernard, Julian Peterson, and Lofa Tatupu. They all combine to give Seattle a defensive front that is top three in the NFC and at least top ten in the league. That is why they were able to get to Rex. New Orleans presents no such weaponry up front. Steroid Chompin' Hollis Thomas is all the Saints have and the Bears O line will eat him up. New Orleans doesn't do a lot of Cornerback blitzes because their maligned secondary isn't fast enough to blitz (or even show blitz) and recover. Rex will have time and he, Jones, and Benson will eat up the Saints D all day long. The only way the Saints win is in a shootout. In order to slow them down, the Bears need to look no further than the Redskins philosophy. Put pressure on Brees, not sacks, just pressure. Brees is 5'11 and if you push past the line and get your hands up, he will have difficulty hitting receivers, being accurate, and there will be plenty of batted balls. That's what Washington did. Also, the Bears were working Todd Johnson back in slowly (from the ankle injury) but he should see plenty of reps this week and maybe even a start, which will strengthen the run D. The Bears will do what it takes to win the game
Don't get mad because I point out the facts about the Bears. The Cowboys were a long shot at winning the Superbowl. For the record, I can't stand T.O. and I think that the "Tuna" is not as sharp as he once was. Romo is a better quarterback than the AC/DC Rex. Put pressure on Rex and he falls apart-look at the tape-you can see the fear in his eyes. Win the Superbowl and you shut me up and shove it down my throat. Don't win and...well you know.
The Bears had a fantastic momentum at the beginning of the game until Rex had that fumble that was recovered by the Seahawks. That led to the opposition getting the TD score to tie the game at 14 apiece, which was indeed maddening, since the rest of the game was too suspenseful
(especially when the Bears were losing by 3 points late in the game).
My question is WHY DIDN'T REX MERELY FLING THE BALL OUT OF BOUNDS KNOWING HE WAS BEING TACKLED?? I'm not sure if Rex was technically "out of the pocket," to prevent him from being tagged with an intentional grounding call, but even if such a penalty were to be assessed against the Bears, it would be a "whole lot better" than giving the Seahawks the ball with great field position!! Or instead of throwing the ball out of bounds, WHY DIDN'T REX JUST PUT TWO HANDS ON THE BALL AND CRADLE IT CLOSE TO HIS BODY? Is this too much to ask?!! Any Bears coaches reading this??
I also saw Moose being tackled on a play where he was holding onto the ball with only his right hand at the top of the ball, where his right arm was positioned away from his body with the "bottom" of the ball heading for the ground as he was falling. That too could have been disaster, since the ball was too exposed for a strip (there were two other defenders close by that were too close for comfort).
The news media used to describe when our baseball teams beat their opposition by one run as "winning ugly." Well that appears to accurately describe last Sunday's win. A true loyal Bears fan must ask himself the following question: Was yesterday's game that much better than our "win" over the Cardinals earlier this season on that first Monday night Bears game?
I look forward to the next game when the "Saints come marching in" to Soldier's Field, which should be quite exciting. I just hope that the Bears coaches can help put the fix on some of these fundamental problems that seem to be afflicting some of our offensive players.
WHAT A GREAT GAME!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT BOOST WE NEED TO GO INTO NEXT WEEKS GAME ON THIS HIGH THE SAINTS ARENT IN NEW ORLEANS SO WERES THEIR INSPIRATION? MY BET SAINTS COME IN FLAT AND BLOW THE FIRST 1/2 PROBABLY PLAY A TOUGH 2ND HALF BUT BEARS WIN 28 17
Excellent stuff! I couldn't be more proud of this team for sticking together when it seems every dog gone national media outlet has bashed da Bears for . . . name it.
But even the biggest fans have got to question why the Bears have been so weak in stopping teams from running right at them. Mercifully, the Bears defense, Esp. Tank and Briggs, made key stops in crucial spots, but the "bend but don't break" defense seems especially susceptible against this RB tandem.
Any theories why they have been so weak up the middle, at the impressive Urlacher -- other than Todd Johnson not starting?
GOOO BEAARRRRSSSSS!
Unbelievable...you guys barely get a win over a tired beat-up team and you act like the "second coming".Listen and listen good, my midwest delusional fruitcakes......Saints will represent NFC in the Superbowl. Rex is a mess. He's wacked out or something. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!
These were my comments before the Seahawks game, but the website would not let me enter them
Bears 34 Seahawks 20.
M V B Grossman 20-39 280 3 TDs one pick.
One bomb to Berrian, one to Bradley, Benson 20 rush 85 yds 1 TD. Gould 2 FGs 1 miss. Jones 18 rush 70 yds. Hasselbeck has decent time in pocket, but no one to throw it to. Alexander has 80-100 rushing and 1 TD, no turnovers by special teams of Bears(big). Blitz package is timely, Bears switch to elephant defense at times to stop run, and offensive line plays a huge game(I love line play). No Brown or Harris is good for ten points for Seahawks.
Close on the game not the score. That was a good game we saw Sunday.
We,fans ,are still nitpicking even in victory. Why are we calling out ONLY Chris Harris. It seems our MLB was thrown around like a cuddle-me-suzy doll and no one is calling him out. Briggs was the best LB in the game. HH ,came up with a deflection taking away a TD and that was cool. I'm not sure if what Brian saw when they audibled was defensed good or not. All I know is they ran up the gut of our team. Maybe WE all will play a better game once they see the film and evaluate. Some of you guys didn't see T.Johnson in but I did several times. Benson is still missing these blitzers and you give a guy kudos for upending a guy who is 3 feet in the air. Jone's deflection shows why he plays more,I bet money that Benson wouldn't have been wise enough to bat that INT away. Jones' play probably won us the game. Benson only thinks of running. It was good to see him catching passes. And that shows that he is maturing. Honestly in passing downs when they are blitzing I still trust Jones more. He's so much into the game. Don't think that this is a rub against anyone but I'm just pointing out what I saw. I love all our guys. When a guy drop a pass I'll give him a pass on that if he contributes more times than not. Those balls are cold and I can't blame a guy for dropping a few. They can't be perfect. I hear guys say that Moose isn't earning his money,he's the WR that does the grunt work better than the others. He's down field blocking so our RBs are looking good on their runs. No one is perfect. Saints can win, sure. But like a couple of guys stated:they lost to inferior talent this season. Twice as many losses as the BEARS. You guys who always doubt this team have been doing it all year. You predicted that they would have a losing record. You say you're fans but I don't see it. If I was married and I didn't trust my wife and was negative all the time eventually she'll leave. Maybe that would make me happy. Maybe that makes me a fool. Being negative all the time to me is a character flaw. If you NEVER find good in anyone else usually it's because you can't find good in yourself. So you can come on and throw that cold water on this victory for those who are happy but you gotta know we already expected that. I wish CTA ran on time like some of you guys. This was a great victory. We DO have a chance against The Saints and the Seahawks fans should know that their team displayed character and gave us a solid game. And should be proud of them for getting as far as they did. That my friend is called gamesmanship. Some of you are better off learning it. You guys are like children sometimes talking about your team is better. That's not belief, that's no better than saying, "NA Na Na Na Nah!! I won ,I won. You lost, you lost". When the game is over -let it go and go on to the next game. Every coach I ever had told me that. Too bad fans can't be coached. Respect your opponent. Usually, he'll get his in the end. And pay back is that name YOU call that wife of yours that you don't trust. "_____ in victory,_____ in defeat". Only a levelheaded fan can fill in THOSE blanks. GO BEARS!!!
Well the lil fellar played pretty good and he didn't even need his mittens. Must have had some stickum or something in his little muff. If Thomas Jones didn't knock the ball out of the seattle d linemans hands, after the tipped lil fellar pass, that might have led to another short field score for seattle, like the one after the ball slipped out of his lil hands. I counted three times the ball just slipped out of his hands and onto the ground. That lil fellar is an accident waiting to happen when the weather is cold or wet and the ball is slick. Hope the bears can somehow get past the aints to that game in florida. Saints have a real secondary and 2 backs who aren't injured. Of course their quarterback is sortof a shrimp too, but he can actually move around. The lil fellar takes three steps and hasn't moved yet. Elusive is not his middle name, maybe peewee is. Go bears!
To joshua:This is DOC Just telling it like it is ,the media and alot of fans are the wishy-washy ones ,not me .I have been a Bears fan since childhood.."Argumentative"?I thought I was being nice.Tank johnson made some bad moves in his personal life, I said it ,But he is still one of Ours.Could it be you didnt like that he made the saving tackle on Hasselsack ,that led to the overtime Kick by Gould that you didnt like.he was excoriated in the media and by the fans (Bears and other teams alike)that is maybe alittle justice he got!Now the legal problems I am sure he has a good lawyer. In the "mean"time suck it up, we will beat the saints if we play well,I like "all" the Bear players, they play hard and have a lot of heart,I just didnt like the way they turned on Tank Johnson and neither did alot of fans(Is that argumentative enuff big guy?.....Go Bearsssssss!!!!
Even if the Bears beat the Saints (and that is one huge "if"), they won't have a chance against New England. The Pata are the class of the NFL and will mow through Indy and the Bears/Saints with ease......mark it down, Bears fans.....
what bob said. sun times rocks!
First of all, Roman, you really should change your response mode to show the latest comments first.
Secondly, it is the defense that needs to play its best game since Brown went down for them to manage to win the NFC title game.
Thirdly, even if the Bears end up Super Bowl champs, Rex Grossman has two unfixable flaws that, in combination, will forever keep him from being a truly top notch QB: he is too short AND too immobile.
A QB can get away with one of those physical handicaps but not both.
Finally, whether or not Muhammed and Berrian COULD or SHOULD have made those catches, they were NOT good passes. On both of them, Grossman was not under pressure.
And, though there were a few times that Manning and Brady made similarly poor passes last weekend, the fact remains that Rex has to be more consistent, particularly on these crossing routes.
Roman responds: I'll look into your first point. Thanks.
I saw an earlier post by Maria talking about the offensive line. You nailed it! What people seems to forget is that pressure is what caused Rex to make those mistakes, and it falls back to the offensive line. In particular John Tait. I watched him Sunday and he was straight up struggling on passing downs. I don't know if it was because of his ankle or what, but he needs to get it straightened out. The Bears are paying him way too much $$ to protect Rex's blind side for him to be struggling.
We as Bear fans really need to buckle down and stand behind our team. I thought it was a shame how the local media and fans turned on them when things were looking shaky. Through all of Rex's ups and downs, defensive injuries, and personal drama, this team has fought it's way to the NFC title game. That has to stand for something right? All the Doomsayers swore up and down we were going to be 1 and done. All the critics swore up and down that Rex Grossman was going to lay an egg in the playoffs. Instead, we are one game from the Superbowl with the same guys pundits in the preseason were picking to finish 3rd in the division based on their preseason performance. All I'm saying is to back our team because no one else will.
Magic? Everyone? Magic has NOTHING to do with what has propelled the Saints to the NFC playoffs, and EVERYONE has NOT agreed! This is such biased baloney. I understand Bears fans wanting the Bears to win and saying they think the Bears are great, but how about a little respect? The Saints have worked their butts off this year only to have ignorant media disrespect their game. To hear people who call themselves true football fans say such offensive things like the Saints have been propelled by magic is truly outrageous. It's true that they have been supported by a city who loves, respects and needs them, but no, it isn't magic; It's called Sean Peyton and a group of hard-working, well-trained, well-spoken, community-driven men who proudly wear the black and gold for a great city.
BEWARE OF THE INVASION OF THE WHO DAT NATION!!!!!!!!!!
"THE SAINTS ARE COMING"
Chicago beware...the Monsters of the Wetlands are coming to town.
Geaux Saints!
It's been enough time to put this victory in the past and to also assess where we are as a team. In this last game I saw O-linemen get beat royal on plays. The play where Peterson stripped Rex, Ruben Brown got beat like a kid who stole his daddy's nudie books. Those plays can not happen. The O line is failing to do their jobs at times and it affects the whole offense. On the TD run on 4th down for Seattle Alexander ran right past Urlacher who whiffed him like he was swatting a spider web. All people saw was Chris Harris being bowled over by a guy with a head of steam. These lapses have to cease. I'm sure that It came down to our O and D jelling together after not playing starters together after a few games. That's why we did so well after the 3rd quarter. Like I said,Alexander got 10 yards in OT that got him to 108 for the game. In my estimation the D held him to under 100 for the usual 4 Quarters. Most of the mistakes will disappear because guys aren't as nervous as they were because of all the pressure from the media and fans ,thinking about one and dones. Now,even Rex is ticked off about people doubting him and blaming him for being a weak link. Keep that chip on your shoulder Rex. Let it all hang out. What do you have to lose by shooting for victory. I don't just have hope I also have faith. GO BEARS!!!
SAINTS WILL BEAT THE BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAINTS #1 baby NEW ORLEANS, LA
The Saints will be easy to beat! Just throw the ball to Fred Thomas's area!
southern indiana loves da bears.....wait till the saints get hit by '" URLACHER" its not going to be pretty
Ok, so some of the Bears fans think the Saints are a mediocre team, well, what will you call the Bears when the Saints win in Chicago? Below mediocre? Or just BAD?
Before the big game Sunday, I have to give my 2 cents about Rex Grossman (and I just thought about this and would like to share). The only other player I can think of that was ever scrutinized as much as Rex Grossman was Ryan Leaf. Remember him? Remember how he reacted under heavy criticism? That alone should show you what kind of character Rex is. Very Strong kid. I don't even think Ryan Leaf was ever criticised as much then as Rex has this year.On top of that, the chargers were losing, and Ryan Leaf was never as good as Rex is now. I could never understand why the fans and media chose him to be their whipping boy over all the other struggling QBs. Even now, the "experts" from ESPN still take little jabs at him. Why? We all know about his inconsistant play. It was well Chronicled. To me, and I could be wrong, but he's the best, and most talented QB the Bears have had in years. Yes he may have been wildly inconsistant. But so have Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, and all the other good QB when they were young. I thought Booing him at home was an outright over reaction by the fans. And that happened on Several occasions. He could've folded, but he didn't and that says a lot about this kid. Win or lose Sunday, Rex has to be applauded about that. I remember when we had another young, talented QB name Jim Harbaugh. He was basicly ran out of town. Local media was overly critical of him also. What did he do? He basicly lifted the Colts to one dropped hail mary pass from the Superbowl the following year. The Colts were sorry before he became their QB. We need to be careful with Rex because we could be watching him succeed with another team in a couple years too.
Da Bears Do Stink.
Da Saints will win....PERIOD !!
Great win but another sign lovie and company have aways to go. Why in the world would you call time out at the end of a half with 2 seconds left when you just shut the other team down ? That could have been a disastorous play. Over all good win and I was glad to see the "D" step it up when they needed to.
SPLAT!that was the sound of some egg and jambalaya hitting the media geniuses and fans directly in the face, they should never have thought the 'aints would come to chicago and hoodoo da Bears.Almost all chicago sportswriters including jay Mariotti predicted a saints victory.Great somersault Bush in end zone!what was the final score though?one more to go!GO!!!Bears!!!!!!
