Anyone who's watched the Bears much knows Brian Urlacher isn't overrated, despite the Sports Illustrated survey of NFL players. I agree with Terrell Owens being the most overrated, at least this season. Who's on your list?

Terrel Owens (All mouth, rare play)
Cadillac Williams (TB Sports writers wtill think it's Gruden's play calling slowing him down)
Matt Leinart (QB rating of 36.3 at OAK?!?!?!)
Edgarrin James (Face it, the Bears have had worse offensive lines during Walter Payton's years and it didn't stop him from still putting up HOF numbers)
Denver(You can win it all with D, but not with Jake Plummer)
1. Tom Brady - He's along for the ride w/ the best coach(system) in the modern era.
2. Peyton Manning - Win something already!
3. T.O - great talent, locker room poison.
4. Jeovan Kearse - What happened to you, man?
5. Jake Delhomme - I can make a pro-bowl throwing to S.Smith
Mike Vick...first time in his career he's had back to back solid passing stats. Isn't this his 5th year?
T.O.'s not overrated; he's a pretty good player who thinks he's the best. He talks way too much and thinks he deserves the ball more than he really does, but there is no one in the open field who is more dangerous. His problem is that he doesn't realize he's nothing without Donovan McNabb.
5) Matt Leinart (he's tough, for sure, but [UNPOPULAR OPINION COMING] he's no Kurt Warner. Next year he'll be something, even if Arizona doesn't get an O-Line)
4) Brad Johnson (I'm hoping Tarvaris Jackson is the real deal)
3) Ty Law
2) Vince Young (Whom I like a great deal, but needs to be on the bench for a year at least. What was the reasoning behind getting rid of Billy Volek, but signing Kerry Collins? This team needs to sign Drew Bledsoe this offseason)
1) Tom Brady (Okay, he's a good quarterback--he knows how to win and knows how to get his myriad of solid teammates in the mix. But, seriously, take away Bill Belichick [sic] and give him Donovan McNabb's receivers and running game and he's Craig Krenzel.)

For anyone who put Tom Brady on the list... Welcome to the Dumba__ football club! He's lost most of his receiver since his SECOND SB as well as his off coordinator. I'm sure last night was a fluke also.
1. Vick
2. D Culpepper
3. E James
I think the most overated people are the so called sports analyst and writers
Michial Vick has to top my list. ESPN has drooled all over this guy for 2 good games in a row.(out of 5 yrs in the League?-geesh!) Let him do this a whole season before you even begin to Label him great. as much as I'd like to, I can't put T.O in here. he has the Stats, the same for Peyton Manning. My #2 has got to be Daunte Cullpepper. one year he has decent stats (not great and the media raves about him,) another year he's either hurt or throwing interceptions. and yet he's a media darling! Hey Miami, how does that Cullpepper move look now?
Overrated?
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
It isn't all bad he is a decent lineman but, I get sick of hearing how Olin Kruetz is the heart and soul of the offense. He gets beat 3 or 4 times a game badly. If he is such a leader where was he last year? I can't remember the game but we had what 3 false starts in a row that put us out of field goal range? He should have been the one to settle everyone down. The Minnesota game HE had two or three false starts called on him. How does the center move before the ball is snapped? Finally how many head coaches have there been while he's been here 3? Offensive coordinaters 5? Quarterbacks 7+? And I guess none of them, not even while the line was bad, not one of them liked the idea of the shotgun offense. Yea, who would like to get the ball five steps back when there is alot of pressure? It must be the venerable pro-bowler Kruetz. I think the only reason he gets sent to the pro-bowl every year is because the league can save some money on airfare and lodging since he lives there.
Olin Kruetz = OVERRATED
1.MICHAEL VICK 2.REGGIE BUSH 3.MARC BULGER 4.MATT HASSELBACH 5.COWBOYS D I can't put any rookies qb's on this list cuz that is the hardest position to play as a rookie and anybody who expects great things from them needs to learn a thing or two.I also am not putting former defensive players of the years on or mvps even tho a few are having down years. They earned the right not to be called overrated just on past accomplishments. Finally, edge, ben, culpepper are not on my list because i think they suck anyway.
IF ,TO played in Chicago and didn't act up, he would be almost as loved as anyone here. You guys hated the hell out of Rodman until he came here.If T.O. kept the antics down he'd make a killing here in Chicago. He'd have more than the 25 million reasons to live if he was here.Outside looking in,we don't like anyone that isn't hustling for Chicago. And love them like crazy if they are hustling for Chicago.Yeah,he's an A$$ but he plays the way we like them to play. We'll see how over-rate he is with Romo and not that Statue Bledsoe passing for him the rest of the season.I don't do over-rateds because sometimes it really should be called overhyped.GO BEARS!!
As a Bear fan who now lives in Seattle and goes to every Seahawks game, I know that Shaun Alexander is without a doubt the most overrated player. He is a product of the system - great OL last few years (less so this year), and west coast offense taking pressure off him. He runs soft and would much rather go out of bounds than gain another yard for a first down and take a hit. When he won MVP last year, all real fans in Seattle rolled their eyes, as he is not even the MVP of the team, let alone the league.
I agree with Bruno my #1 has to be Vick. I think he is an incredible talent. But overrated as a quarterback. Chad Johnson (not long enough track record) Matt Leinert you would have thought he was headed for the hall of fame after the bear game.
McNabb had the MVP trophy wrapped up what happened. I'm sure all of the recent problems are all T.O.'s fault.
Like the man said above, Walter ran behind a poor line for most of his early career and the bears had no quarterback and no other offensive threat. He still put up awesome #s.
PS if walter payton had played with Emit Smiths Cowboy teams he would have had 20,000 yards.
1. Micheal Vick
2. Dante Cullpepper
3. Chad Johnson
4. Matt Leinert
5. Donovan McNabb
6. Edgerrin James
Since there are some haters out there i feel i should put my two sense in the matter!
Chad johnson needs to stop calling out other players and turn into the reciever he once was!
Cullpeper came back to soon and needs to wait and realize that his knee will be alright!
But the most overrated player ever is Drew Bledsoe- made tom brady turn into a super bowl M.V.P and in Dallas has turned Romo a Eastern Illinois QB into the most eligible bachelor in town. Stop crying and retire and Fade way Drew b4 you turn me into a Superbowl MVP.
Go Cubs!

Most overrated player of all time has to be Emmitt Smith. Did anyone see him talking about Tiki retiring and how he would keep playing if that was him. Well hell ya you would have kept playing Emmitt. The NFL practically had to pull you off the field. He didn't know when to hang it up even after he ended up with the Cardinals, the worst franchise in the NFL and averaged about 2 yds. per carry. He should never be the all-time leading rusher. What a joke. He isn't half the back that Sweetness was. Anyone could have run behind the Cowgirls O-line.
Most overrated is the dale/tampa who thought it would be funny to name all bears players and teams as overrated. I think is a little jealous of what Chicago has when his team performs as poorly as it has this year. I think to that Gruden is a little overrated as a coach but I am not saying he is a bad coach by no stretch of the imigination. I also think T.O. is overrated but only because of his lack of being a team player.
Blake... right on the money. Emmitt Smith does not deserve what belongs to Walter.
i think everyone is right about tom brady. he wouldnt be nothing without his mastermind-super genius coach. so tom brady is the most over-rated, i also agree that emmit smith is the most over-rated player of all time. he always had a great offensive line except when he played for arizona and what happened to him?
NFL:
1. Tom Brady, Put either P. Manning, McNabb, Carson Palmer, Drew Brees and a few others on the Pats and they would have the same success as Brady.
2. Daunte Culpepper, no Moss, no production.
3. Jevon Kearse, uh...does the "freak" still play in the NFL?
4. Randy Moss, two words: Aligator arms (over the middle).
5. Ben Roethlisberger, well, not really certain about this pick yet because of what he has had to endure of late, but if he does not step up his game soon he will be a lock.
MLB:
1. Derek Jeter, like Tom Brady, Jeter is a product of being in the right place at the right time and the right team. He has NEVER had the pressure of being "the man" on a mediocre team like his beleagured teammate A-Rod. He will NEVER be scrutinized the same way because of the YANKEES past success as a team with him as a key member...sure, but not 'the man'.
2. Tony Larussa, considering the ammount of talent he has had on his teams over the years and only winning 2 world series this man is always labeled as a 'genius', yet Dusty Baker is run out of town and labeled a 'moron', etc despite the fact that his two top pitchers could not play even a quarter season and his position players seemingly often had injuries at some time or another.
3. Tom Glavine, his career the last few years are all based off of reputation, he gets the benfit of the doubt of borderline pitches more frequently than just about any pitcher.
NBA:
1. Shaquille O'Neal, the man simply batters, bum-rushes, and 'bowes his way to the basket. It is not as if he does not have the ability to perform SOME actual basketball moves, he clearly can (or at least used to be able to in his younger days). He is CLEARLY not on the level of a Abdul-Jabbar, Chamberlain, Olajuwon, Robinson, Russel and Ewing when it comes to the entire package of basketball ability (jump shot, hook shot, blocked shots, passing, rebounding, stealing, driving to the basket, clutch shooting, etc). All Shaq has been is an amazing freak of nature who has great quickness and agility for a man his size.
There's more NBA players I could name but I will leave it at that.
Who was the first QB to ever lead a team to Green Bay and defeat them in the Playoffs? Michael Vick- It doesn't have to be sexxy baby all ya gotta do is Win! All Vick did was Enter 2006 w/ the 6th best winning % of all NFL QB's @ .618 and has only improved that this year!
You wanna talk overrated! Look in your own backyard in Rex Grossman! Since you have drafted him w/ the 22nd pick in 2003 he has played a total of 15 games. Yes, 15 games! He has only played a half to this season. Let see how his second goes!
Can't wait to see you guys in the championship game so we can lay the smack down and shut you guys up.Vick overrated! Please!
I wish the media would stop covering these clowns completely:
T.O.
Chad Johnson
Ray Lewis
Warren Sapp
Randy Moss
Dante Culpepper
Brett Favre
Clinton Portis
2002 Buccangeeks
Jon Gruden
Warren Zapp

You guys are joking right. The bears are the most overrated team in football. Coasting because of an easy schedule.
1. Rex Grossman
2. the no name bears recievers
3.T. Jones
4.Brian Urlacher
It 's going to be hillarious to see you guys choke in the playoffs. Go Vick and Go Falcons
ATL Shawty
Hey VickHaters,
You may think that Rex is overrated but in half the season this year he has thrown more TDs than Vick has. Also has thrown for more yards and he doesn't have the media all over him like Vick has. People say Vick is overrated because everyone anointed him as the best before he played a game in the NFL. Now that he has played a couple of years his weaknesses have been exploited. He is an unbelievable athlete but there are 7-10 QBs I'd rather have leading my team. What did Vick do last year against the Bears? He was looking for a warm room more than he was looking for a reciever to throw to.
Where did all the Falcons fans come from? You guys do realize this is a Chicago blog? You can't be serious thinking you actually have a chance against the Bears even if you make to the playoffs. If you play the Bears the game will be in Soldier Field in January. We all saw what happened last year when Vick and Co. came and played in Bear weather. See you in the playoffs if you make it that far.
Blake,
You do realize this is the internet don't you? You know the information super highway? Ya follow? Even these Chucagoo cumpooter bloogs make dem selves down her in da soutf.
Ok, someone pointed out last year, it was a disaster offensively for the Falcons, but as well for the Bears. The total offense for both teams combined was under 500yds. Given this if it works to be the same game I'll take this years Michael Vick over last years.
Oh, by the way Vick is THE MAN!!!

Emmitt Smith is not the all-time over rated player.Tony Mandarich or Brian Bosworth have him beat. The one year Emmitt held out his team lost both games.Sure Walter played on some truly horrible teams and would have 20,000 yards if he played behind their line but you can't blame Emmitt for being drafted by Dallas. And actually taking advantage of his fellow superstars.Barry Sanders was a great back but if he kept playing and broke Walter's record like he was poised to do he'd be on the top of you guys' list. But since he was gracious and didn't want to upset the fans he just walked away. Now,that Emmitt broke the record you really wonder what Barry would have accomplished if he didn't quit too soon.I liked playing against him.I hated when he would bust out on us but I'm a fan of the action.I'm sure Emmitt Smith didn't have to play for the money, just for the love of the sport like you guys always say you're looking for in these NFL players. In Arizona he got OLD.Past his time.I'm sure he meant that if he could still play he would.Especially when you can still play and produce. Also,I haven't seen anyone say Nick Saban as an overrated. He got what he wanted from Chicago, in Miami and his team is getting worst. He overestimated what he could do and what some players could do and now you see why coachs don't get total control. Some of you guys still wish that the BEARS had got him even though Lovie has succeeded here.Who out there still wish that we had pulled out all the stops to get Saban? That said,Go BEARS!!
1. Warren Sapp (Old, slow, and overpaid)
2. Dante Stallworth (Thank you McNabb)
3. Donald Driver (Thank you Brett)
4. Any Broncos Runningback (Thank you Shannahan and O-Line)
5. T.O. (Nuff Said)
6. Thomas Jones (Thank you O-Line)
7. Ray Lewis (The guy's a wack job)
8. Deion Branch (Thank Brady for SB MVP)
9. Reggie Wayne (Um yeah, no good w/o Peyton)
10. Edgerrin James (At least Arizona has nice weather!)
P.S. Anyone who has P. Manning or T. Brady on their list is completely wrong. They may be the two best Q.B.s of our era. Some of you need to check your football I.Q.
For comparison:
Brady is like Montana, rings and all
Manning is like Marino, great regular season stats, choke artist in post-season.
Vick has played the Beloved twice and been pantsed both times. The Bears defensive linemen are faster than he is (not a joke) and are one of the few teams that can spy Vick, becasue they have the talent to do so. I will take the Bears D over Vick any day.
Mike Vick. I hope to see him in the NFC Championship game. He'll break in half like a brittle piece of glass.
Brett Favre. Is he still playing? I thought he retired. Maybe he should have.
Tom Brady? A product of a brilliant coach. Maybe, but you didn't see this brilliant coach winning any super bowls in cleveland. Tom Brady is the best quarterback I have seen since I began following football, 1988. Overrated, how about the Falcons. The Bears have killed them the last three meetings, and that was with Miller and Orton at quarterback. I would say the Falcons D is overrated but they are not rated period. Giving up 30+ points to the Steelers?

Sounds like a really serious case of "sour grapes" 1985 Bears overrated? They're only one of the 3 best teams in history (and I'm not including the '72 Dolphins in that statement, although they were very good as well). Back-to-back playoff shutouts? Find me another team that's done anything nearly as impressive: the only other possibility would be the 1940 Bears who won the Championship game 73-0!!
First off, I'm a lifelong Bears fan, so I don't want to get flamed by people mistaking me for an ATL stooge. But, seriously, do you people really have the stones to call Michael Vick overrated? This is probably the first year since Reeves was coach that he has anyone other than Crumpler to throw the ball to. The only knock anyone can come up with for him is that he runs too much--so he starts beating good defenses with his arm, and the first thing people do is point back to his history, conveniently-forgetting that, with Reeves at the helm, he was a winning passing quarterback.
For that matter, unlike any other quarterback in the league except for Peyton Manning, Vick doesn't have a shutdown defense helping him out. You can talk all the smack you want about how you'd prefer (insert quarterback) on your team; all that means is your head is embedded in your intestines. Vick is the 3rd best quarterback in football (P. Manning and McNabb being the first two); his problem is that his coaches and teammates have just been standing around and watching him instead of helping him win games.
And I'm sorry, there is no defensive player on the Bears who is as fast as Vick (that's one of our glaring weaknesses--yes, our line is fast for linemen, but our corners and safeties get burned wayyyy too often). Maybe Urlacher is fast enough to chase him down and Hester might be able to take him in a 40-yard sprint, but the best the D-Line can do is just get position on him (which they certainly did last year!).

Most overrated bear is muhsin muhammed. Except by himself, then he's very highly rated of course.
Vick isn't overrated, it just no one really cares about the flacons, even in hotlanta, which is not only hot but also unbearably humid.
go bears!
To the dope that said LaRussa was overrated, look at his record you genius!! He is 3rd in wins in the history of the game. And this comment about all this "talent" c'mon, they've been beat up injury wise, big time come playoff time. This year, we just happened to get everyone back at the right time, and the pitching staff finally came together. Pujols, Edmonds, Eckstein, and Rolen were all hurting pretty badly this playoff season, but they gutted it out, and got it done.
The Bears are overrated, once they play someone, give me a call. They're getting the benefit of playing a cupcake schedule this year. I'm smelling a first or second round discharge this year in the playoffs, depending on if you get a bye, which it would be sad if you didn't w/ the schedule you have.
I have to disagree with the Emmitt Smith overated thing. Yes he did have the privilage of running behind a great offensive line. But He ran hard and broke a lot of takles on his long runs. Check the highlights. No he wasn't juking and cuttin like Barry sanders, but he hit the hole hard and he wasn't easy to bring down. Also out of all the RBs who ran for the Cardinals Emmitt had the most success. His second year he ran for 937 yards with a 3.5 average and 9 TDs. And how old was he? 38 or something? I mean, I don't think thats overrated. How about Brian Bosworth, Cade Mcnown,or someone like that. Those guys were overated because everyone had high expectations of them and they sucked. How aboutJeff George, or Rashan Salaam. You cant say Vick is overrated becasue He win ballgames. The falcons cannot/have not won without him.Sure he is a erradic passer, but on any given play he can make a game changing play. You can't say Terrell owens because the guy is probably the best reciever playing right now (arguably). I think you all are judging by your own personal feeling other than facts.
ALL TIME OVER-RATED
1. Joe Namath (look at the stats)
2. Emmitt Smith - behind those lines, Walter would have 25,000 yards
3. Michael Vick - once his legs are gone, he's gone
4. Steve McNair (tough? no, he's just hurt all the time)
5. Mike Singletary - played behind 4 great lineman, and next to 2 LBs much better than him
nobody is saying vick isn't a GOOD qb. we are even saying he is explosive athlete but as for calling him a great qb that is not even close. As for him being the 3rd best qb in the league please.his recievers are making him look good, yes i said it.i watched the highlights of his games a lot ond one thing i notice is his recievers have to make hard and almost impossible catches half the time especially in the red zone. BRADY, MANNING,BREES, MCNABB, PALMER,even GROSSMAN,ELI,RIVERS ,FAVRE throw better balls then this chump. All that was said with my head firmly planted on my shoulders darryl.Except the last two games this guy averages 165 yards and a td a game WOW , hall of fame here he comes.
Where is Rick Mirer? The guy was a waste of 2 #1 picks. The BEARS got fleesed that year. They gave up their #1 pick to get him after(was it Seattle?)picked him in the first round the year before. Now that is the king of overrated.A lot of you guys are sure picking guys who were very successful in their prime.Opinions like these are why so many people pick Urlacher as an overrated player.HATERS.Where is Jim Morrisey who used to wear Butkus' number?Or Aundray Bruce for Atlanta.Wasted # 1 overall pick.Bernie Kozar.Even Dan Marino who took his team to the Superbowl in his 2nd year never to return, after that loss. You're really nobody until you make it to the big dance. If Elway didn't get there WITH Davis he'd be up there too.Right along with Jim Kelly.4 straight losses in SBs.You can't impress me losing that many.Where is Herschel Walker?Because of him Dallas won those SBs and got all those great players.Problem is he wasn't with Dallas when they won.The Vikings game up their Viking-ship for him.And those who say that Singletary had great linemen in front of him and 2 great LBs beisde him doesn't know that after the 3 years he played with Marshall and Wilson he had to play with Morrisey and (sorry to say)Ron Rivera for quite a few years. In fact he played with those 2 way longer than the first 2.So in the immortal words of Ditka "GET IT SHUT".Why can't you guys get your reasons in check.Ask yourself before you say somone is overrated;Would I want his production?Do we have anyone on our team better? Now,go ahead and play nice.Brutal game today but I HOPE we get over it and learn from it.Our fortunes sure rise and fall with what Rex does.GO BEARS!!!
The whole Bears team and the Sun-Times.
Lovie Smith
Rex Grossman
Thomas 2 yard Jones
mike north ihave to turn off the station when he's on what a self centered self promoting baffon he is "that being said"yelling doesn't make one right hey tough guy shut up !!!!
Oh yeah. THE most overrated Chicago sports figure:
Mike Ditka. ESPN can't figure out what to do with him and he never ever gives good analysis. If there is anyone who relies on his '85 championship more...
I travel a lot to S Florida. The funny thing is, they are still living off the '85 game against the Bears and talk about it every bit as much as Chicago does about the SB winners!!! Too funny...Also, about Vick - I was in Vegas this week and made a big bet he couldn't play a 3rd NFL game in a row where he had to look like a QB...$8,000 later, I was right. He's somewhere in the 2nd tier of QBs.
Detroit just scored another TD off a Vick INT.
That Atlanta D has been deepfried the last four weeks giving up over 110 points and all. Good luck with that squad come playoof time, if ya'll make it of course.....
Yes, Urlacher is the #1 Most Overrated Player in the NFL...
This is easy. The whole bears's team is overrated. Especialy the coaching staff. Everybody talks about how great lovie smith and company are. They are not that good. Their players cannot even execute the basic fundementals of the game. Like I said in the past Smith is a great "D" coach but, as a head coach he still has a long way to go. The giants game sunday night will be a big test of how he gets his troops to respond.
Frank... I agree with you except for the great "D" coach part.
most overrated players are: not in order. tony gonzalez, vick, roy williams (cowboys)edgerrin james, deion branch, antwan randell el, joey porter, and check this out my most overrated player is marvin harrison. the guy cant block he cant break tackles all he does is catch the ball and go down. if he didnt have the best quarterback known to man on his side he would be a slot receiver at best. underrated players are jon kitna, roy williams (lions) ed reed, brandon jacobs, donald driver, and also the best reciever in the league is terrell owens.
Tom Brady is not that overrated, Peyton Manning is the one whose overrated, unlike Brady, Manning has two great wide receivers yet he cannot win a single playoff game
Whoever posted their list above under jay_rocco2001 isn't ME! I did NOT post that overrated list up there in my name..is it a typo or what?
Roman responds: Names are under the posts.
