So much for any hangover from the near-defeat in Arizona two weeks ago. The Bears looked as good as ever today.

Total domination today.
Man that was great.
regarding the poster on the we're back post:
Savannah Bear Fan?
Im a Savannah Bear fan!
Although Im young enough to have had batting gloves in little league and aluminum bats.
Anyway, I watch the games at McDonoughs and theres about 7 or more Bear fans in there every week, come on out next Sunday. 25 cent wings and reasonable beer bucket prices.
That game was great today.
Unbelievable.
Back in the 1960's, Milton Berle said that if the US really wanted to end the Vietnam War, they should broadcast it on ABC. If they did, it would be over in 13 weeks. This, of course, was a jab at ABC's primetime lineup, which was a rating's disaster back then.
Today, different war, same problem. You want to end the War on Terrorism, let the Bears fight it - it'll be over at half time.
Hey I know some people will say that playing the level of competition will only hurt the BEARS in the long run ,I say at least we'll give our 2nd string good real game experience. Can't hurt to keep everyone included in our victories.GO BEARS!!
Seems like this season is a perfect illustration of the importance of home field advantage. Bears are completely unbeatable at home, yet beatable on the road. Get a #1 seed for the NFC playoffs and the Bears will be in Miami.
The Bears looked great, but let's keep it in perspective. The 49ers suck.
What a come back for Grossman! Record setting scoring. More, more, more. Miami- here we come!
Like I said a few days ago rex would bounce back and he did. I know the 49ers defense is not the greatest but, 42 pts in one half? thats pretty impressive. What a great start to the season let's enjoy it, Bear fans deserve this.I remember a quote by john madden a few years back when he said the NFL is a lot more exciting when the bears are winning! No doubt about that!! It was also great to see summerall back he has been through a lot but, he looked and sounded great today and I wish him the best!!!!!!
Say all you want about how the 49ers suck but they are ranked in the top half in the league against the run and we ran all over their buts today.Kudos to the line and the rb's.Yes i'm gonna agree with marrioti and say urlacher is a legitimate mvp candidate even though he won't win it because his name isn't manning.
Sigh, blow outs like this just hurt my fantasy stats for the Bears team I own. The D gets few points per player since the real Bears D didn't get much time on the field.
Tht said, who cares about my fantasy points? My starters gave me an incredible 230 fantsy points before half time.
I just wish they would let the second team play all out instead of a couple short runs, a short pass and Out. I know they don't want Griese to have a game good enough to ever think about a QB cotraversy, but lets face it, we were all happy knowing Tomzack could come in for mcMahon and paly a very good game.
If you are going to the back up squad, don't coast. I saw SF get a 4th qtr TD because we didn't keep the ball on O with the same old conservative play calling. Let ehm play real football when you put them out there, non just small time consuming plays.
How is a 10 play scoring drive that uses passes less time consuming that a 3 and out drive using up the middle runs and short screens?
incredible, shear ' incredible. has anyone removed riveras foot from singletarys butt yet? (sorry mike). ive heard it all day, "they still havent played anyone yet". who is there to play?
as long as lovie keeps the team focused, the bears will play as tough with anyone.
clinch a playoff spot before they play anyone is just as good as kicking everyones rear end. some times when a dominant team loses, they play even hungrier. so bring on the eliete i have confidence in our bears to take it all the way, and if for some "papa bear" awful reason we dont make it ill still bleed navy blue and orange till my last beath that i use to gasp "DA' BEARS"
take a look at the schedule. nov 26. could that be a preview of a date in january, (can you say rematch?).
The Bears did a good job of creating opportunities and capitalizing on them. I still see things that very easily could spell disaster in the post season, I hope the coaches see them too. I don't like Benson very much as a person but I do like his running style better than Jones. Nice job to the regular posters on these blogs for not blowing everything out of proportion.
BBB I agree,
I like Cedric's running style a little better than Thomas Jones also. He seems to hit the hole a lot quicker. But his attitude does stink sometimes. Not to take anything away from Jones because he has talent too.
The 'fins seem a little geared up to play the bears. I hope Lovie has his boys ready because the Dophins seemed pissed that the Media is already talking about the Bears-Giants game. I know they are 1-7 but again, like the Cards, they are desparate and need a win badly. I would look for some trick plays early.
Like I keep saying,Benson makes this team one-dimesional.No one is expecting him to come out of the back field and catch passes. He isn't trusted to pick up the blitz and you saw for yourself how he didn't pick it up and Rex got creamed.Once he shows he's multi-faceted he'll be a gamer. But if he gets his QB killed he's gonna have to be Superman to play another down for the BEARS.It's the other things they ask him to do besides running the ball that he isn't good at.I don't care who you are no one man beats 8 man fronts game in and game out.If you ask Defensive coordinators in the NFL who they would least like to face between the two you'd be surprised. They hate facing a complete back.Football is a game where it's better to have the element of surprise.Jones is cut back runner and teams do scheme to stop him.But they still don't know if the BEARS are gonna run or pass when Jones is in.With Ced,they have an idea it's run.If it's a pass, keep coming on the bltz and see if he'll pick it up.Take your chances that he won't.You can't just have a pure runner because everyone knows that you stop a team enough that they will abandon the run.And 8 man fronts do stop your running game. That said,GO BEARS!!
If Benson doesn't have the ability do the other things then we shouldn't have drafted him. If he does have the ability but still can't do it then our coaches aren't doing their jobs. I've seen Jones miss plenty of blocks and his running style stinks. Like I said before the game, looking good vs. the 49ers means nothing. If teams are looking for the run when Benson is in then we should play-action and burn them and if no one expects him to catch passes then we should pass to him. Sound like good opportunities to move the ball to me. Benson can get 3-4 yards where Jones gets 0. That gives us better options on 2nd and 3rd downs. If we're seeing 8-man fronts so much why the heck do we run into that? It's easy to scheme your offense around your weaknesses. I say put the stronger runner in and adjust the scheme accordingly. Maybe this coaching staff can't do that. That would explain a lot.
i am so tired of hearing about what almost happened in Arizona and the crack in the bears armour and junk!!! we played poorly on both side of the ball that day, our defense gave up early scores that forced us out of you game plan, and we still won!!! sports writers and columist and NFL analyst are fair weather because it keeps the drama going so you fans can tune in and listen to the non-sense. one minute a columnist are praising the bears as the best in the land, and rex has arrived blah blah blah, next the same columnist are yelling for Brian, all because of one game. case in point, the Steelers are 2-4!! but all you hear is they will turn it around, no one is trying to throw Big Ben under the bus! and he is absolutely out of it this year.
Jones did miss one block, but overall he does a fine job @ picking up the blitz. I do think that Benson is the better runner, but Jones is the better all around player right now. He seems to just "get it". But Im happy to have them both. Jones gets into his hopping sometimes and I get mad. But then a few plays later he'll find that cutback lane a break a few good ones. Benson is more of a slasher. If you give him a crease, he'll bust it right up in there...really fast! When he does that it makes you say, " if only he could get a few more carries!" Because I can see him breaking a 60-80 yarder easy! But I understand what you're saying William. But what about Adrian Peterson? He can carry the rock too. Don't forget about him.
How many backs come into the league knowing how to play a complete game? Most of them can't catch the ball out of the backfield or pick up the blitz. That's why you sign them on time and get them on it during training camp. You forget that Benson haven't had a training camp since he's been here.Once the season starts no one has the time to help them catch up.Remember he totally missed last year and this year his own teammates knocked him around and made him miss training camp.Coaches can only do so much during the season. They have to work on the gameplan and if you have someone who knows how to do it then use them.Benson's average hasn't been better than Jones' in any game this year.Oh I know that all backs say that they need a full game to get warmed up and maybe that's the problem with both of them.Remember Walter never had speed and he was the rare back that dished out the punishment.Speed isn't everything. How many blocks have Jones missed that got Rex planted in the ground? He's had more opportunities to mess up and he's made less mistakes.Like I said before he's trying too hard. He's trying to make a long run everytime so he can stay in more.EVERYONE hates the hopping around.I'm not impressed with that EVER.A lot more goes into playing some positions than people can see. Also when you play action that gives the DE a better opportunity to get to the QB because the back is in near the guards trying to sell the play. The back can't nick the DE and no one helps the Offensive tackles. If the TE isn't on that side and you have a speed rusher you only have so much time to get the play off. That DE can still hit your QB.Over so much time that takes a toll on your QB.If the corner is blitzing he has a straight shot to your QB.And unless you're Dan Marino you can't always get that play off.And then again that's more punishment your QBs gonna take.Rex can't take that chance with someone who's always playing catch up with everyone else. That said,GO BEARS!!!
What the Bears need is to be properly trained, challenged, and motivated. The last thing they need is to be pampered and have people make excuses for pathetic performances.
