Anybody worried about the Arizona Cardinals?

| | Comments (21)

Matt Leinart looked pretty good against the Bears in the preseason, which scared some of you. I kept saying the preseason doesn't mean anything.

And the Bears don't play well on Monday nights. There is some reason for Bears fans to fear Monday's game.

Obviously, every week you must be ready to put forth a full effort so there is no excuse for the Bears to look past the Cards. Yes, there are a few things which usually wouldn't bode well for the Bears. A history of Monday night ineptness, difficulty with the Cards, opportunity for a mental letdown, possible over confidence, playing a desperate team and what I feel is the most dangerous is the possibility of injury from cheap shots like what happened to Larry Johnson of KC.

Not worried but cautious, because as everyone knows the Cardinals are a pro team just like the Bears. And anything can happen in the course of the game. Never look pass any team because you can get a shock. Now do I think the Bears will lose no way, if we keep up the intensity level we have displayed so far this season, I don't think there's a team that can beat us. Planning a trip to Miami in February.

Yes, it's the Bears on Monday Night, a bit worrisome. However, the Cards won't have Larry Fitzgerald. So that makes it more of a wash.

agree with big bad bear, bears should win but denny greeen coached teams have been known to play really physical and borderline cheapshots. If i recall right, alex brown got his shoulder hurt in the preseason game when he got hit by someone away from the play. I noticed in that game that the cardinnal players would try and get in extra hits after the bears players were on the ground and keep driving into them when they were down, not ball carriers this was blockers or defenders. think they were also high lowing guys on the line too.

So i would be very wary of cheap shots and worry about injury. I hate to see bad teams who are either encouraged or coached to try and hurt opponents on more talented winning teams. Not very classy or sportsmanlike.

go bears!

No, this is one game I'm not worried about. There is no 'Monday Night' curse, or jinx, or whatever you want to call it. The Bears played on prime time for their Sunday Night ESPN game and showed the world what they are capable of. The nay-sayers talking about how the Cards will play better to showcase their new stadium ar over emphasizing the home field advantage. If a team just isn't that good, it just isn't that good anywhere it plays.

I see another rookie QB getting a few long passes in the early 1st quarter, then getting picked most of the rest of the game when he takes the chance to go long.

This seems to be the area all the teams are waoking on early agains the Bears this season. Throw the long passes and hope that will open the running game later. And the Bears CB's seem to give up a couple big plays, just to get in the huddle and hear Urlacher or Brown tell them off. Then they step up and all is forgiven.

So I look for Arizona to get a couple scores on Monday night, but both early before the D scores on them. I also feel Hester may take one in.

I'm a Bears fan who lives in Az...It's great the Cardinals have signed some exciting players and it is going to be fun watching Matt Leinhart mature...He may have a good passing game the Bears (He'll be dumping the ball off alot ie. throwing short passes to deal with the rush) but the Cards have a really *&^%$* offensive line...It's a sieve...It's the hockey version of the 5 hole...No problem, the Bears will win but it will be a fun game to watch...Leinhart is good...His mind is a sponge...He learns fast...The Bears should be happy they get him early in the season...The Cards defensive backs are bangers also...The Bears better be ready to play a mistake free game and RUN the ball right down their throats...In last Sunday's game, Denny Green called a time out (their LAST one) right before KC kicked their last field goal...I didn't understand that...There was less than a minute left and if Leinhart had that timeout they might have had a chance to win because Matt marched them right down the field in about 40 seconds...Rackers missed a 51 yarder...If he had been a few yards closer the game would have gone into OT...Anyway...it'll be a good game...The world is going to see the next great NFL QB...I still can't believe how he landed right into the Cardinals lap...Rackers will have his opportunities...Bears 38 Cardinals 16.

I don't think the Bears will have any problems with the Cards. Somewhere in the 34-10 range.
I do worry for Rick Telander, though. Turning lights on and off is real scary. I hope it doesn't keep him from going through the motions and writing his, oh so insightful, three paragraph columns.
Does he really think anyone cares? Is he so self-important to try to take the spotlight off the Bears and make it about him? I can't wait for his next "sportswriters deserve special privileges" column. Pompous jerk.

I am as worried about arizona as I am about the old gum I can't get off my shoe. The big picture is much more important. That picture is the approach to work in which the Bears have shown the most blue -collar, lets kill this varmint now attitude that's needed to stay on course. What I like best is that the BEARS will continue to rip away everybody's hope to even compete with them. This team has the ability to step on another teams neck early and not flinch when they reach down to snap their neck. Graphic but merciful. It's feeding time again!

No one should have to worry about the Cards. The Bears offense couldn't find itself and now there playing as well as anyone.

Yeah, I am a bit worried about this game, call me superstitious .. the past Monday night debacles .. the curse of the Cards, Denny Green and his sometimes dirty play, Matt Leinert - a quick read, though inexperienced QB. But all in all I think this is a magical year for the Bears and we should overcome all the jinxes and win this one by at least 2 TDs.

I agree somewhat with "Tele's" post. Matt and the cards will get their chances early but in the long run the 'D', Grossman, and the bears O-line will dominate.
Bears 30 - 10.

I don't worrry about the Cardinals as much as the fact of being on Monday night and it seems like this is a game where they can let their egos get in the way of taking this game seriously. They may be more concerned with looking good on MNF. Oh yeah, one other thing, before you start saying "I told you so" about prea-season not meaning much, remember you picked the Bears to go 9-7 and miss the playoffs. Nice call there Nostradamus.

Roman responds: Touche.

Remember its Monday Night Football. Loss to Miami that ruined the perfect season in 84-85, Rusty Lisch debut in 1984,
Disappointing losses are abundant on Monday Night.

I hope these arent our fathers Bears

Da Grizzly in Orlando should run for mayor. You're absolutely right about the Bears work ethic. They're all about taking care of business one game at a time. This team has the killer instinct on both sides of the ball. And just like the 85 edition they seem to enjoy trouncing an opponent. So I see a Bears victory tonight. And enough of this Monday Night Game jinx crap! As for all the nay-sayers, If you're a fan enjoy the ride. I caught the first six games in the 85 season before I had to leave the country for a tour of Europe. And I knew that team was special. A true fan of the sport knows exactly what to look for in a winner and this team has it and not just because the schedule is lite. Observe the athlete's psyche on this years edition and you would all relax and realize how great this team is. The personalities may not jump out at you. As a whole this team is on a mission to get to Miami. I hope to see you all there!

Let's see...

Bears 27 Cards 13

to say the bears sneaked out of arizona with a victory is a bit of a misnomer (the defense came to play in the second half, even if Rackers should have made that last field goal)--it's more they managed to win a game they shouldn't have. Rex made a few bad decisions, and Arizona made him pay. His relative inexperience shone through tonight (he got outperformed by Leinart, hands down).

With that said, I expect Rex to learn from his mistakes (much like after the Minnesota game). At least, he better, because Arizona's D isn't exactly a powerhouse, and they've still got the Giants and Patriots to worry about.

Before anyone starts in with, "The Bears stole the Game" crap! Or starts to feed into Denny Greens' sore losers tantrums. Remember last season. The defense did exactly what it's expected to do; win without any offense. Last night's victory only cemmented the fact this team will go only as far as it's defense is going to carry it. And anytime Rex produces as he has in previous games, is an added bonus.

Whew!!! Glad the D came out of hibernation at after half-time. Thewy running game need to do the same, then RG won't have to be throwing in desparation. Benson showed some bursts we have yet to see out of Jones. I think he needs to get more carries. Hester is a diamond in the rough ,,,when he gets polished ...watch out!!

I think the Bears will get dominated for most of the first 3 quarters. Then, the Monday Night Miracle will begin. It will probably start with a defensive sack that turns into a score. Next will be some Bear-Claw strip of the ball by #54 and earn us another touchdown. It will likely get capped by a special teams punt return for a game winning TD. Final score something like 24-23. I will likely refer to the game as The Desert Heist or Escape From The Desert. 6-0!!! -Pete

Be grateful the Bears don't play the Cardinals again this year...Unless they meet in the playoffs..!!...16-0???!!!...No Way!!!

I quite enjoyed that monday night ride. Anyone that freaks out and worries about this team, I have one word, relax. It's a long season. There are 1600 professional football players in the NFL. You might as well say the whole world. You cannot expect to dominate every week no matter what. After watching every game from 1985 (thanks to Bay Ridge Conservatory) those bears were vulnerable in 3 seperate games. I almost wish they lost monday. I don't give a rats asp about 16-0, I just want the Super-Win. You almost get beat by the cards and it should reinforce the idea that it's all about building momentum at the end. I'll take a loss or two gladly if they don't get anyone else injured. Let's just keep getting better and learning from experience and building mo. As I always say, don't feed the BEARS. Keep'em hungry so they hunt for their food.
