Joel Lindpere called up for national team duty

Fire midfielder Joel Lindpere has been selected by the Estonian National Team and left for his native country of Estonia after the Fire's 2-0 win over the D.C. United on Sunday.

Lindpere has been called up for friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago on June 7 and Kyrgyzstan on June 11 at A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn, Estonia. He will miss the Fire's game against the Portland Timbers Saturday at Toyota Park and the team's fourth-round Open Cup matchup with the Columbus Crew at Toyota Park on June 12.

Lindpere has six goals in 88 appearances for the Estonian National Team. Most recently he scored in his country's 2-0 win over Andorra on March 26 in World Cup qualifying.

In much-celebrated move this offseason, the Fire acquired Linepere in a trade with the New York Red Bulls. But he has been a disappointment so far this season. Lindpere has started all 10 MLS games he has played for the Fire but is without a goal or an assist.
