Fire midfielder Victor Pineda has been selected by U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Tab Ramos for the 21-man roster for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, the club announced Friday.

Pineda, the first Homegrown player in Fire history and a Bolingbrook native, primarily plays as a striker for the U-20 team.

The tournament will take place in Turkey from June 21-July 13. The United States is in Group A and begins play against Spain on June 21. The United States rounds out group play with games against France on June 24 and Ghana on June 27.

Pineda made six appearances for the U-20 team in 2012 and tallied three goals and one assist. He missed the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship while rehabbing from surgery he underwent on Nov. 15 to repair a torn meniscus.

Pineda has been with the U-20 team since May 25 and will return to Chicago after the World Cup.
