Fire to host Club América

The Fire announced Wednesday that the club will host Mexican Primera Division champions Club América in a friendly on July 10 at Toyota Park. This is the third consecutive season the Fire will play a Mexican club at Toyota Park.

This will be the third meeting between the Fire and Club América. In their two previous meetings, the twice lost 2-1 on July 12, 2006 and April 28, 2009.

Club América has won 10 Primera Division championships. Their five CONCACAF Championships ties them for the most all time. Among the most notable players on their roster are Mexican international defender Efraín Juárez and Ecuadorian striker Christian Benitez.

Tickets for the game go on sale on May 3 at noon central. For Fire season ticket holders, the game serves as Bonus Game 1.
