The Fire has exercised the team option in Sebastian Grazzini's contract according Javier Leon, managing director of the Fire's holding company Andell Sports Group.

Leon addressed reporters after Thursday's training session and said that the delay in making the announcement was because Grazzini was dealing with some family issues and entertaining a transfer to a club in Argentina.

Fire center back Arne Friedrich will sit out Saturday's game against the Columbus Crew at Toyota Park and hopes to be able to return to action when the team travels to Livestrong Sporting Park to take on Sporting Kansas City on June 29.

Friedrich, the German national and World Cup veteran, strained his hamstring in the Fire's 2-1 home win over Sporting Kansas City on May 12. Friedrich was supposed to return for the team's 3-1 win over the New York Red Bulls at Toyota Park Sunday but had a setback that had exclusively to do with his fitness.

Outside back Gonzalo Segares isn't thinking about the mistakes the team has made during a three-game winning streak.

Attacking midfielder Sebastian Grazzini said through a translator that he feels no distaste toward the Fire who have drawn out his contract negotiations. But the 31-year old did say it was difficult to play under these uncertain circumstances when he discussed the matter with reporters Tuesday.

He signed a one-year deal with the Fire last July. The MLS roster compliance date is July 1 at which time all contracts for 2012 season become guaranteed, making it a priority for the Fire to make a decision before then.

Brazilian midfielder Alex Monteiro De Lima is set to begin training with the Fire on Tuesday. The 23-year old will be added to the Fire roster on June 27 when the summer transfer window opens and will be available for selection when the Fire takes on Sporting Kansas City June 29 at LiveSTRONG Park.
