Fire center back Arne Friedrich is expected to miss three to four weeks with a Grade II strain of his right hamstring, suffered in the club's 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City at Toyota Park on Saturday.
Friedrich did not attend Wednesday's training session and was unavailable for comment, instead staying home due to what a team spokesman deemed a "common cold."
While losing a defender of Friedrich's caliber would hurt any team, it comes at a time when the Fire schedule is less demanding. The club only plays four MLS games over the next four weeks. All of those games come against teams currently under .500.
