The Fire singed Brazilian Alex Monteiro De Lima on a free transfer from Swiss side FC Wohlen after the 23-year old midfielder was given a pass to spend Phase 1 of training camp on trial with the club.

Per MLS regulations, De Lima will not be allowed to train with the team until the summer transfer window opens on June 27 and after receiving his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.

De Lima is an offensive-minded player capable of playing as a forward or midfielder and known for being skilled with the ball at his feet.

"Alex is a special player that we're proud to add to our roster," head coach Frank Klopas said via a team statement. "After having the opportunity to see him play for Wohlen last year, Alex joined us for part of our preseason where he showed the ability to contribute to our club."
