When the Chicago Fire showed interest in signing 32-year old German defender Arne Friedrich, he was so impressed with the way he was treated that it didn't take long for him to make his decision.
It also helped the that its latest signing and already had an affinity for Chicago when he entered discussions with the Fire.
"Chicago as a city is absolutely nice because it's international and you have a big skyline," Friedrich said. "You have everything here what you need and it's kind of similar like New York in my eyes but a little more familiar and relaxed."
Friedrich hasn't found home yet, but says he'd like to live in Lincoln Park.
