At his first training session with the Fire Tuesday, recently-signed German defender Arne Friedrich set a three-week timetable and feels he is right on schedule.
The central defender said Friday that about 80 percent of his time is spent training with the team, the other 20 on an individual program to help increase his fitness level. He feels that his training is going well.
Prior to training with the Fire Tuesday, Friedrich hadn't played soccer for some five months. So, he wants to ensure he's in top form before taking the field with the first. He will play in the reserve game on this coming Tuesday.
He expects to develop a solid chemistry with the other defenders over the next week.
"This will work out in the next week," Friedrich said. "So when I play with the reserve team. It's normal when I'm not playing [the starters[ be prepared and in the next weeks I'm going to know them and I don't think it's a big deal."
