As you may have heard, Matt and I finally got around to setting up our own fantasy league. We held our first ever fantasy baseball draft last month, and it was a lot of fun. Nothing like some quality smack talk to start off the year. In the days leading up to the start of the season, we'll be taking a quick look at each team in our league.
Next up is The Dynasty. Come behold the power of screen shots...
First pick: SP Tim Lincecum - Giants (11 overall)
Best pick: CF Rick Ankiel - Cardinals (14th round)
The Dynasty belongs to Matt Olsen, whom you may be familiar with due to his fine work at The Fantasy Factor. Olsen was put in a tough position with the 11th pick in the first round, so he decided to be the first to grab a pitcher, tabbing reigning NL Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum. We don't need to go over Lincecum's merits - he's rising star in baseball, has a high ceiling and low floor for this year. Olsen pairs Lincecum with Carlos Zambrano and Cole Hamels to form a formidable rotation.
The offense will be relying heavily on a bounce back year for Troy Tulowitzki, the Rockies shortstop who was lost for nearly all of last season. Adam Dunn and Evan Longoria will likely provide consistent production all season long. Could this be the year Elijah Dukes finally breaks out? Bonus points for drafting Alexei Ramirez, who just makes me happy to be alive.
