League preview: San Diego Swingers

As you may have heard, Matt and I finally got around to setting up our own fantasy league. We held our first ever fantasy baseball draft last month, and it was a lot of fun. Nothing like some quality smack talk to start off the year. In the days leading up to the start of the season, we'll be taking a quick look at each team in our league.

Next up is the San Diego Swingers. Come behold the power of screen shots...

First pick: SS Hanley Ramirez - Marlins (first overall)
Best value: C Jarrod Saltalamacchia - Rangers (17th round, 209 overall)

One of the best teams in our league, if you ask me. The Swingers seemed to really know what they were doin' on draft day. Having the first pick helps too, of course. Hanley Ramirez is arguably the best all-around offensive player in the game. He's made for fantasy baseball. Maybe the best thing about Ramirez is that he likely hasn't peaked yet. His numbers have been astounding the last two seasons, but it still feels like the best is yet to come.

The Swingers pitching staff is led by a couple of high risk, high reward guys in Rich Harden and Francisco Liriano. If they can both stay healthy, you can expect huge strikeout numbers. It's a big if, though. Jake Peavy, Mariano Rivera, and Joe Nathan offer a bit more certainty.

This dude is weak at first and his pitching staff is totally suspect. His middle infield is totally garbage.
