League Preview: ThunderStruck

So as the fine readers of this here Weblog may have heard, Matt and I finally got around to setting up our own fantasy league. We held our first ever fantasy baseball draft on Sunday, and it was a lot of fun. Nothing like some quality smack talk to start off the year. In the days leading up to the start of the season, we'll be taking a quick look at each team in our league.

First up is ThunderStruck. Come behold the power of screen shots...

First pick: 3B Miguel Cabrera - Tigers (6th overall)
Best value: P Felix Hernandez - Mariners (7th round)

Here's the first thing you need to know about ThunderStruck: he blogs about the Oklahoma City Thunder at AfterTheLightning. It's on the BlogsByFans Network, the same place you'll find TremendousUpsidePotential, my blog about Chicago sports. So go read his site (and mine!) every day.

As for his team, perhaps the screen shot is a little deceiving. It looks like our league's first trade will pass through soon, which will send Albert Pujols to ThunderStruck in exchange for Prince Fielder and Miggy Cabrera. Note: ThunderStruck is a Cards fan.

The strength of ThunderStruck would seem to be strikeouts. King Felix, Matt Cain, and Ubaldo Jiminez could all rack up 200 k's this year. Having Jonathan Papelbon helps, too.

Wow, that trade is borderline veto-able in my opinion.

Yah, whoever duped that guy into giving him Miggy AND Fielder must be some kind of fantasy genius....
