As you may have heard, Matt and I finally got around to setting up our own fantasy league. We held our first ever fantasy baseball draft earlier this month, and it was a lot of fun. Nothing like some quality smack talk to start off the year. In the days leading up to the start of the season, we'll be taking a quick look at each team in our league.
Next up is KING KONG KINGMAN. Come behold the power of screen shots...
First pick: LF Josh Hamilton - Rangers (9th overall)
Best value: LF Raul Ibanez - Phillies (10th round)
It seems as if KINGMAN is more of a National League guy. Four of his first five picks were NL sluggers. That quartet includes a pair of Cubs in Alfonso Soriano and Aramis Ramirez. KINGMAN went heavy on hitters early in the draft, as well. Eight of his first ten picks were hitters; and he didn't take a pitcher until he tabbed Josh Beckett in the seventh round.
The rotation has a lot of potential, but some question marks, as well. Beckett and Fausto Carmona disappointed last year but could bounce back strong. Clayton Kershaw is considered one of the best young arms in baseball, but he has just 21 starts to his name.
For saves, KINGMAN will be relying on a quartet of relievers that includes the Dodgers' Jonathon Broxton and Chad Qualls of the Diamondbacks.
