So as the fine readers of this here Weblog may have heard, Matt and I finally got around to setting up our own fantasy league. We held our first ever fantasy baseball draft on Sunday, and it was a lot of fun. Nothing like some quality smack talk to start off the year. In the days leading up to the start of the season, we'll be taking a quick look at each team in our league.
Next up is Hoosier Dawgs. Come behold the power of screen shots...

First pick: LF Ryan Braun - Brewers (8th overall)
Best value: P Ryan Dempster - Cubs (11th round)
Hoosier Dawgs has an interesting mix of veterans and youth. They'll be relying heavily on Texas 1B/3B Chris Davis for power, who was impressive in just under 300 at bats last season. At this point, you know what you're getting from Jason Bay and Chipper Jones. Both were solid, safe selections for Hoosier Dawgs. And it's impossible to argue with Braun in the first round. Though he doesn't walk as much as you'd like for a star hitter, that doesn't matter in our league anyway. Braun is one of the finest hitters in the National League, and he's only getting better.
The pitching staff here is interesting, too. I'm high on Gil Meche this season, and Hoosier Dawgs was able to grab him in the 16th round, with the 201st pick. Great value there. Same goes for Sox hurler Gavin Floyd, who Hoosier Dawgs snatched up in 14. Hoosier Dawgs' pitching staff will led by Johan Santana, who went 19th overall. Santana was the second starting pitcher selected in our league, only behind Tim Lincecum.
