This will be an abbreviated version of the Wakeup Call due to the fact that there were only two games on the schedule last night. I could just give you the box scores of both contests but thought better of it.
And Thursday's player of the night was...
Player of the Night
Manu Ginobili, Spurs
vs. Phoenix Suns
35 points, 9 boards, 3 dimes, 18-for-18 free throws
This is the kind of stat line we're used to seeing from Ginobili. It's too bad that ankle of his seems to flare up every other day or else we'd be talking about the Spurs the same way people gush over the Celtics, Cavs and Lakers.
But this is fantasy and on that side of the equation and that's what we'll concentrate on.
Manu is about to finish his best month of the season, averaging 15.9 PPG to go along with 3.1 RPG. It's taken him some time to work back into his kamikaze ways on the court and the Spurs couldn't be happier about it. This veteran team will need him to be at his best the last months of the regular season and I have no doubt Ginobili will rise to the occasion.
Get ready for a wild finish.
Bust of the Night
Mo Williams, Cavs
vs. Orlando Magic
12 points, 2 boards, 3 dimes, 4-for-15 from the floor
That's quite the turnaround from his career high 43 points against the Trailblazers last Wednesday.
Mo struggled mightily to get much of anything going against the surging squad hailing from Orlando, but so too did his teammates. Teammate LeBron James couldn't buy a bucket, missing 17shots on what was a very off night for the entire Cavs team. But when you say LeBron struggled, you still have to realize that he's the only person we'd say that about with a stat line of 23 points, 8 boards and 8 assists.
30 - Ginobili
28 - Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix Suns (Why would anyone want to trade this guy?)
Leading dime dropper
18 - Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns (That's just silly)
8 - LeBron James, Cleveland Cavs
18 - Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
15 - Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs (And whined to the refs the entire time)
