WR Wes Welker - Patriots
Injury: concussion
Status: day-to-day
Welker has been reliable for Matt Cassel's Patriots all season, but he hasn't been of much help to fantasy owners. Welker has caught a ton of passes - 84, good for second in the NFL - but he's only found the end zone once. This week could be the game he breaks out.
Welker suffered a concussion last week against the Steelers, but it looks like he'll be fine. The ultimate medicine for a receiver? Playing the woeful Seahawks, who Welker takes on this on Sunday. If he's in the lineup, and he should be, Welker could be a good start.
strong>RB Marion Barber - Cowboys
Injury: toe
Status: questionable
Barber (toe) did not practice Thursday, and Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said that Barber is looking "more doubtful" for Sunday's match-up with Pittsburgh.Recommendation: Phillips did also say that Barber still could be a game-time decision, so not all is lost for his owners. Barber has shown the ability to play through pain this season, so don't count him out yet. Tashard Choice would fill for Barber, so, if the rookie is still available, Barber owners may want to scoop him up soon.
RB Brian Westbrook - Eagles
Injury: knee
Status: probable
Westbrook didn't practice Thursday - normally not a good sign - but it appears he's over a knee injury that has slowed him down all season. Westbrook had his best game of the season last year, rushing for two touchdowns and going for two more through the air. It'll be tough to keep the good times rolling this week against the Giants, but New York's mind may be on other things.
Matt Wood is a web editor for
Westbrook or Hightower this week?
Thanks
Olsen responds: Go with Westbrook. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield sets him apart. Hightower may lose the goal line carries not to another back, but the two Pro Bowl wideouts.
