Injuries to monitor through the weekend

Let's get right into it.

QB Carson Palmer- Cincinnati Bengals
Injury: Elbow
Status: Probable
Prognosis: "He will be limited in practice this week but vows to play against Dallas."

Palmer sounds like a man who is determined to play this weekend.

"It definitely feels much better today (Thursday) than it did yesterday," Palmer said. "I'm playing. I'm preparing to play. I expect to play until I'm told differently. I'll try to throw again tomorrow and see what happens."

So yeah, Carson Palmer is likely to play this weekend against the Cowboys. But do you really want to start him? Palmer only has one touchdown pass this season. Something seems to be up with Chad Johnson, and I doubt the recent signing of CedBen adds anything to the Bengals offense. Seemingly overnight, the high-powered Bengals offense has lost its luster. If you have good depth at quarterback. benching Palmer this week may be a good idea.

QB Aaron Rodgers- Green Bay Packers
Injury: shoulder
Status: doubtful
Prognosis: "He has been diagnosed with a sprained shoulder and is doubful to start Sunday."

Aaron Rodgers may not have a choice this weekend. For the guy following in Brett Favre's shoes, there is going to be enormous pressure on him to play on Sunday. But even if he goes, Rodgers may not be your best fantasy option. Again, if you have a good backup to Rodgers at quarterback who is facing a favorable matchup this week, go with him. Rodgers does face a poor defense in the Falcons and he is playing at home, so if you need him, it's not a terrible start. Without the shoulder injury, he would have likely been in for a big day.

RB Brian Westbrook- Philadelphia Eagles
Injury: ankle
Status: Questionable
Prognosis: "He has been diagnosed with an ankle strain, the MRI was negative."

Last week, we saw how much missing Westbrook affected the Philadelphia offense. Westbrook didn't practice at all last week before being ruled out against the Bears. He has practiced Wednesday and Thursday this week. That's a good sign for fantasy owners. In a pivotal division game, Westbrook should play on Sunday. How healthy will he be? No one is sure yet. Keep tabs on him throughout the weekend to determine if he should be in your starting lineup.
