Trailing Tampa Bay by 5.5 games in the AL East, the Yankees have their work cut out for them if they're going to close Yankee Stadium with a playoff birth. Things got a lot harder earlier this week when starter Joba Chamberlain hit the DL with rotator cuff tendinitis. The Yanks are going to have a tough time surviving the injury, but they have some nice options that your fantasy team should consider.

Lost in JobaMania is this: Chamberlain was supposed to be only one of three awesome young New York pitchers. Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy battled injuries and poor performance early this season, but could now be ready to live up to lofty expectations.

Kennedy makes his return to the bigs tonight against the high-powered Angels. If Kennedy can turn in a quality start, pick him up if you're in need of pitching. No team is as ferocious as Anaheim right now, so if Kennedy tames them, he should be good to go.

Hughes should be called up soon. He struggled mightily before getting injured, posting a WHIP over 2.0. But in his latest rehab start in AAA, Hughes allowed just one run and three hits over four innings. Reports say he's regained his control. If so, he warrants a look as fantasy leagues head down to the wire.
