Injury update: Someone needs to teach Felix how to block the plate

Playing against the Mets, Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez was making his first plate appearance ever against Johan Santana, one of the most feared pitchers in baseball. Bases juiced, Hernandez takes the first pitch and drives it opposite field over the right field fence for the first grand slam hit by a pitcher since 2006.

However, things quickly went from ridiculously good to terrifyingly bad as Hernandez suffered a severe right ankle sprain while trying to cover home on a wild pitch. He did everything he could to get back out on the mound, but was forced to leave the game after coasting through 4 2/3 innings while giving up one earned run.

I'm no doctor, but this just didn't look good at all. Like they say, sometimes a sprain can actually turn out to be worse than a break so Prince Felix isn't out of the woods just yet. This is a huge blow to fantasy baseball and if he's out for an extended period of time, many of you are going to be dropping in the standings without your ace.

We'll keep you updated, but check back tomorrow for some replacement ideas in the meantime.

Does this kill your fantasy hopes or are you not really concerned?
