The Tempest Epiloge is by Sir John Gielgood not Pete Postlehwaite,

Oh this is just too sad. I know you are familiar with Swedish actor Per Oscarsson, as you've mentioned him here and there (most recently in your The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo review). As I happen to be Swedish I also happen to know that he is presumed dead after a big fire burnt his house to the ground on New Years Eve a few days ago. It just struck me as strange, and sad, that these two great actors - even similar in appearance - would pass on around the same time.

What an actor! Everything I ever saw him in was great. (I think he deserved that Oscar more than Tommy Lee Jones did...shhhhh) He is one of the people who have inspired my son to want to be a character actor...

Great, great, great actor. I believe I read somehwere that Steven Spielberg called him at one time the greatest actor alive.
My favorite Pete performances was In the Name of the Father, and most recently was great in The Town.
You will be missed.

Aw, hell. I never knew his name, but I know this face. I always enjoyed this guy. He had quite a few movies come out this year - was he ill all that time?

Fucking cancer.

He had the best face in the movies. I could watch him chew a steak and it would be entertaining.

Might I suggest this clip for today. He has been in better movies, but this scene seems appropriate and I can't think of a better example of one actor's performance elevating mediocre material so high as this film.

The L. A. Times said it well. Pete Postlethwaite was one of those character actors who seemed incapable of giving a bad performance.

And Ann Francis is gone too. I'll never forget that moment in '55, when I first watched in horror, as that evil bastard, Reno Smith, plugs her in the BACK in "Bad Day at Black Rock."
