When I tweeted a link to the video "When Lunch Met Lucas," I heard from readers disappointed that the video had been pulled. And I heard from the filmmaker, Sascha Ciezata, who made this film telling the whole sordid tale:

It would be awesome to be rescued from a car crash by someone like Werner Herzog. He is an amazing person!
The Herzog/Phoenix encounter sounds oddly like something from the Big Lebowski, with the Dude telling Walter to relax, though Walter says that he's perfectly calm.

Edited/reposted. With all the recent attention to Joaquin, sadly, few noticed his gifted brother River would have turned 40 last month. What he might have been.
What a shame that the ASS made such a copyright claim. When someone is clearly doing something worthwhile with a piece of audio that it otherwise available for free, it really seems unjust and petty to make such a claim.
