is glorious to listen to, who does that whiskey-soaked voice belong to?
I listened to it 3 times in a row and enjoyed it more each time.
Atwood's words are just sublime, one of Canada's great talents.

Yes, what a fine poem--about my favorite American writer, just about--although Flannery O'Connor can step in anytime. Atwood and Waits get very close to Chandler's eye for both the deeply textured and the misty.
It's funny you posted this: I've been re-reading him lately--just a couple pages at a time then set it down, like good brandy. (Jeez: Hard to write about Chandler without getting Chandleresque.)
And to think I was raised not to touch things.
