Ebertfest 2011: The documentary

marquee.jpg

This video about Ebertfest 2011 was produced by Luke Boyce and Brett Hays of Shatterglass Studios in Champaign-Urbana. Passes for the 2012 festival are on sale at the Ebertfest Web Site. Out front of the Virginia Theater will be the newly-restored marquee (at top), based on the original plans from 1921.

Update: For the last few years, we've partnered with the Art Theater, only a block away, which during Ebertfest screens films from both the current and past festivals. This is the theater which turned me on to art films, and where I first saw "Citizen Kane." As it faces the challenge to raising money to convert to digital, its owner, Sanford Hess, is turning it into a co-op. Click for information.

Roger and Chaz,
Talk about heartwarming. This video is beautiful and so true. Thank you once again for bringing Ebertfest to our hometowns.
Slainte,
Betsy

What a good time it was! Blessed to have been there.

Ebertfest means 5 days of spending time with friends, watching movies and the next 360 talking about the experience. Thank you Roger.

This festival is so special, and I feel fortunate to have been one of its thousands of audience members. Meeting you, Roger, was such a thrill and one of the high points of my life! Jeff and I are looking forward to Ebertfest 2012.

Wish I could go. But it's a long way from Norway.

Oh gosh, now I simply have to go to this next year. I caught a trailer of that film made by the Ross brothers, 45365, and that looks fascinating. Documentaries like that always seem to leave me a wistful, semi-melancholy state of mind, yet I never regret the experience.

Keep up the awesome work, Roger!
