In April at the Conference on World Affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Werner Herzog spoke of the 3D film he was making, "Cave of Forgotten Dreams."

On the night of 9/13/10, the film had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In a conversation that afternoon at TIFF's Bell Lightbox, Herzog said, "It was only finished yesterday. I haven't seen it myself."

It was a remarkable film (even with the alligators!) and the first truly valuable application of 3D I have seen.

And it was a pleasure and an honour to shake your hand last night at the screening. I have followed your writing for 30 years and you have taught me so much about film and, more recently, about humanity. (I am embarrassed, however, that I completely ingnored Chaz, seated beside you. My apologies.)

Ebert: Forgive yourself. That wasn't Chaz, it was my minder Millie.
