This list, sixty or so strong, comes from a blog called Faronheit, with which I previously have been unfamiliar, and, while claiming to have a solid source inside Austin, TX-based promoters C3 Presents, the blogger equivocates by noting, "Given that I've been told the list is at least 90% correct (if not higher), I'm pretty willing to let a 10% margin of error slide in this case. Think of it this way: if you cut out 6 artists from this list of 60, does it make the remaining lineup a whole lot worse?"
Well, maybe, maybe not, but it might make the list inaccurate, and we old-school reporters still value that. Either way, it's interesting to scan it. And, amazingly, it does skip the big scoop I posted at the end of yesterday's Lollapalooza entry.
The list follows the jump.

Hm, it's also suspiciously missing some bands I personally know that are confirmed to play ... that said it certainly looks similar to what most have been predicting.
Well, why are YOU holding out Mr. Chicagoist??? Let 'em rip!
Add Portland band Hockey to that list...
Now this is much more encouraging. Although I thought Lily Allen was confirmed for a festival in Europe that weekend? Excellent lineup, if it's true.
When will someone wise up and have a special set of mid-90s Chicago bands reunions at this or Pitchfork?!?!?!?! Come on... Triple Fast Action, Fig Dish, Loud Lucy... let's get the bands back together!
This doesn't sit right with me. The list looks legitimate and I believe he's hit on many of the artists, but I'm a little annoyed by his "10 % of these are false" and "don't name me if you post this on your blog" stance. The guy's trying to have his cake and eat it too. He wants all the credit of breaking a big story (and looks like he got it) but he's got these little loopholes so we can't blame him if he is wrong.
As far as C3 goes...they are going to be upset about this and I don't really blame them. Their employee, if he were smart, would know better than to be leaking the list to his buddy like that. But I also think that C3 needs to realize that it is their insistence on waiting and announcing the entire lineup on April 21 that is the reason this happens. Bonnaroo and Coachella were announced a couple months ago now. Granted, those festivals are earlier in the year, but you know that it's going to stir the people up.
Also, it seems judging by this list that Lolla has decided to just completely do away with the tiny bit of hip hop they were clinging to. Beasties as a headliner is nice...but after them and Atmosphere it's a rap wasteland. Kind of sad.
Oh well...good lineup in spite of everything.
Maybe I scanned through too quickly, but, is Ben Harper going to be the only African American face on the premises, or is could those 6 acts "Faronheit" wasn't privy to?
Ben Harper, Santigold, and the guys from TVotR...but point taken D.
Also, he didn't say there are six acts he is not privy to. He said that there are six bands on his list that aren't actually playing. Which I call shenanigans on. That just sounds like a total cop out.
These names have all been thrown around the Lolla boards for weeks, looks like a compilation of that. I'm not buying it.
D,
Sanitgold is Black (whether she is African-American, I don't know), and there are Black members in TV on the Radio (again, I can't say if they are of African American decent... I believe they are all American?)
Indeed I DID scan through too quickly and noticed those names you folks point out soon after I posted. On a separate note, That whole "secret insider friend" tone of the Faronheit blog is pretty juvenile and silly, whether true or a put on.
I thought for sure Lolla would try and bring back some hip hop from the inaugural fest. Especially considering the Pharcyde, De La Soul, and Tribe all toured together on last years RTBs, and the Phifer has a new kidney. Where's the hip hop?!
You're absolutely right, Jacob. If Tribe were playing, I'd be at Lolla. But no way would they be playing and not be a headliner -- that'd just be really, really fricking insulting to one of the most innovative and influential hip-hop acts in history.
Also, a lot of these acts are reruns (TVoTR, Ben Harper, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Matt & Kim, Silversun Pickups) I don't have any issue with these acts appearing, per se, but is it really that hard to get new acts to play? I mean, okay, great, Uncle Lou is playing -- an act in which I have little-to-no interest considering it'll be a hot day with an irritating crowd and crappy sound -- but aren't there other acts whose live show would be more suited to an outdoor venue?
Finally, aside from Animal Collective, Matt & Kim, and Neko Case, I still don't care about this lineup. The headliners suck, most of the undercard sucks, the sound will inevitably suck... ::sigh:: Why do we have this festival in our town again, and why is it better than the camping festivals around the country?
I think this is the best lineup yet for me. I would say that whoever is putting this thing on has read my mind. With the exception of Animal Collective (I just don't get it) and TV on the Radio (I get, I just don't like it... at all) most of these acts are a hit.
So, everyone who doesn't like it just stay home and it will give me a better chance of getting up front for some of these performances... I appreciate it.
The list looks great, & not only because my favorite band is on it. Thanks for sharing!
Metric is playing the Metro in June. That conflicts with Lolla's rules, right? So they're not too likely to be on the official lineup.
Animal Collective is obviously playing since they sadly skipped Chicago on their upcoming tour, yet are playing NY and LA. Ah well. Just glad I got to see 'em at the Metro in January, I guess.
Some blog you have never heard of is now a source for your Lolla information ???
Could you imagine Lynn Sweet's stature as a news journalist if she reported every inaccuracy posted on blogs through last years election ??
Me neither.
Come on DeRo.... Leak the real one!!!!! You know you've got it by now. Who cares if Perry hates your guts for leaking it.
