Cubs made a move today, here's the official release:
The Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Kevin Hart from Triple-A Iowa and optioned righthander Michael Wuertz to Triple-A.
Hart is available for this afternoon’s game against the San Francisco Giants at Wrigley Field.
The 25-year-old Hart joins the Cubs for his third stint in the big leagues this season, going 2-1 with a 6.62 ERA (13 ER/17.2 IP) in 12 relief appearances thus far in 2008. A member of Chicago’s Opening Day roster, Hart collected his first two big league wins, April 5 vs. Houston and April 9 at Pittsburgh, before he was optioned to Iowa May 2. He returned to the Cubs on June 3 and was sent back to Iowa on June 12.
Hart is 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA (15 ER/40.1 IP) in 10 appearances, all starts, with Iowa this season, including a 2.51 ERA (4 ER/14.1 IP) in his four starts since returning to Triple-A for his most recent stint. Overall this season with Iowa, Hart has limited hitters to a .205 batting average, including a .156 mark by right-handed batters. He has 48 strikeouts in 40.1 innings, an average of 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
Wuertz is 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA (15 ER/38.0 IP) in 37 relief appearances with the Cubs this season.
