Prior to heading over to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guards, I was thinking about how much the guard has changed in high school soccer this year.
When you look at the high school landscape, some of the area's premier programs have battled through up-and-down seasons this fall. Hinsdale Central, New Trier, Barrington, Sandburg, Evanston, Downers South and Maine South are just a few that come to mind.
So I ask you this: Of the programs named above or another high-profile program struggling this fall that wasn't mentioned, which one do you think will be back to the top first and why?
We're heading to Wembley Stadium tonight to watch the England National Team in its last World Cup qualifier and hoping to catch former Providence star Brad Guzan in action on Saturday in Aston Villa's Premier League match vs. Chelsea. Guzan is back in the U.S. with the U.S. National Team for its game tonight.

A quick response to your comment that Hinsdale Central's program is down this year. In fact, the Red Devils' season has developed in much the same way as 2007 and 2008, when the program advanced to the final four and sweet sixteen in the state tournament. The team is 12-6-2, and 9-2 in its last 11 games. It finished the WSS conference schedule 5-1, better than the past two years (4-2 both years), finishing second to an outstanding Lyons Township team. Going into the state playoffs in 2007, the team's record was 15-6-1 and in 2008 13-6-2. Like those years, the Red Devils have played a rugged schedule again this year and experimented with formations and lineups early in the year. Hopefully that preparation will translate into another nice run in the state tourney!
