From Tony Kees, Jay Konrad and Mike Taylor to Mike Wiggins, Jim Konrad and Jim Corsi, there are some great coaches out there.

So who are some of the best high school coaches walking the sidelines this season? And keep in mind, not all great coaches are at powerhouse programs.

I don't know if he is the cream of the crop, but I have watched Andrew Ricks of Lane Tech coach games at the last two Pepsi Showdowns and came away impressed. His teams played hard and showed some nice team play. I like the way he relates to his players, and they seem to respond well to his coaching.

An underrated coach in the western suburbs is Travis Carlisle in Oswego, who has really helped lead that program to another level from where it was in terms of visibility, scheduling, competitiveness, overall success, etc.

paul wright OPRF is a great coach who does it all...he works with players well and puts them in the best position possible to succeed...he works year round to provide playing opportunities for his players that are not in high level clubs to improve...he provides opportunities for graduates to give back to the community in camp settings, refereeing youth games and coaching players of all ages...I coach against him every year and his teams are always competitive, hard working, and they play fair...OPRF should be very grateful for his time and efforts

One team that's impressed me wuith their ability to hang with the Big teams is the Lake Park Lancers......don't know the coach's name but he always has a competitive, well prepared team.
Same goes for the Streamwood coach.

Jay Konrad has no idea how to coach. He plays favorites and has all the talent over the last 2 years and did nothing with it. He was to busy putting Zimmer on a pedastool. Lets see what he does in college. At Central Zimmer was the 3rd best defender last year!!!

Brian,

Before you start criticizing coaches and how they go about doing their jobs, maybe you should learn something about the game and how it is played. Just because someone is "the best player" doesn't necessarily mean that they fit into a coaches plan, and who says that they are the best player? Just because you have a personal connection with the player doesn't mean that they are automatically the savior or the program that they are involved in. Oh yeah, and you might want to learn now to spell too before you start insulting people's and coach’s abilities, you make yourself look very credible.
