Last year, it was Larkin.
People laughed at me, but at the end of the day - the Royals showed what they were made of.
So folks, who will be the surprise team this fall? Let me know your thoughts, and I'll tell you mine next week.

Reavis will be the surprise, the teams starters are basically all returning seniors.
Joe,
Not much known about this year's boys season... I think a lot will depend on who plays HS and who plays club year round...lots of shakeups on the club front with new owners and mergers on the Magic side could have a lot of impact throughout suburbs...
Is NT still going to be strong?
Sleepers are tough, but I'd go with Round Lake HS as a surprise team....last year they had their best year in school history led by Cesar Garcia, but they were also fairly young and both underlevels I was told were undefeated as well!!! Most coaches seem to think they were a 1 year fluke, but I'll put them in as a dark horse to compete for the Prairie Again and likely get a rematch against Lake Zurich in the North Suburban Championship game...
MSL could be an interesting year...look out for Prospect HS to have one of their better years in recent history and challenge Hersey... on the other side, Barrington and Schaumburg will likely duke it out again, although the loss of Beard at Schaumburg is going to hurt big time...
In the FVC, who knows. I hear they now have 2 divisions, 1 of 7 and the other of 6 with Woodstock splitting... the Valley seems tough with DC, Cary, McHenry, Jacobs, and CLS all evenly matched, but Huntley gets the short-end on the boys side, nowhere near same success as girls (although have 1 of the best GKs around in Kevin Montalongo...should get a chance to see him play, 6-6 athletic JR!!) Then on the Fox...Grayslake North could be very tough with Julio Zamora leading the way on a side that likely only will have Prairie Ridge challenging them if Saucic plays HS this year...)
Anyone know who Bartlett's new coach is yet??? Wheaton N. reloads, but again, Neuqua Valley with new coach Tony Kees is going to be tough to choose against...!!!
Up north, i like Zion Benton to catch some teams off guard. Started last season with 10 straight wins, including 2 tournament titles, and had a solid season. Returns 11 players, 9 starters. Adding a key member of the U-17 eclipse team that is higly regarded. alright, i know this may not be an entirely serious contender but definitely a competitor. I'd also keep an eye out Round Lake. Alot of talent.
Streamwood were tough last year.........Benet were too
Ben Berry is the new head coach.
I think Wilmington Wildcats will be the surprise team of the year, They have a new coach, new field, and have the support of the school board. They put their money and time in building a new program.
