If you're looking for talented players who battled through injuries, traveled to different countries or opened eyes this spring, look no further than the 2009 Sun-Times All-Area girls soccer team.

From Huntley's rising star, Alyse Williams, and Wheaton Academy's all-around stud, Leah Fortune, to Alexa Gaul playing for Neuqua Valley after playing club the last three springs, the story lines are plentiful with this talented 11.

They stood out during the regular season, and now they stand above the rest at the end. Here's a closer look at this year's first team (http://yourseason.suntimes.com/girls_soccer/1608329,060409-girls-soccer-all-area.article):

What about Luisa Desario from Bartlett? She should be on the second or third team. After all she scored 31 goals this year.

Maybe I missed it but did Jess Arabia not make any of your teams? She was the heart of Naper Norths midfield, I thought she played defensive mid.

Have you seen Hinsdale Central play any of their games? All I can say is that Toni Kokenis should be all-state just like she was in basketball this year. Toni has a commanding presence out on the field that defenders fear. At 5'10", nobody could move her off the ball. She was the team's leading scorer and the driving force behind their state championship win. I'm sorry you missed her playing this year, however, you'll get a second chance next year as she's only a junior.

Yes, I saw Hinsdale Central play this year. And yes, Toni is a nice player.
