In today's communication era, why did the IHSA need to host seeding meetings this past Wednesday? The state tournament doesn't kick off for a few weeks, and football seeds are decided a week before the start of its state tournament.
Officials need to be assigned, but again - that's the only major problem. This is the 21st Century, and the IHSA still runs its state tournament like its the 19th Century. With a number of weeks still remaining in the 2008 season, there is a good chance these seeds won't be a true reflection of where teams should be seeded.
Agree?

Joe,
In looking back, these seeding meetings are actually a week later than when they took place last year...but I agree with you completely, why so soon??? Also, what is with the pre-determined Regionals?? I understand that to help with travel down South, but from Rockford to Barrington is not as bad as it seems... after all, look at the Barrrington Regional alone!!! Barrington and LZ are arguably the top 2 teams in that entire sectional and have to square off in the regional... not to mention Cary is 12-1-1 and tied Boylan and then you have Dundee Crown whom I believe is Cary's only loss! Head over the McHenry and it seems Round Lake has a legitamate chance at its first Regional Crown and the Huntley Regional where CLS is a #1???!!! and DeKalb is a #4???!!! How does that make sense?
THoughts?

I agree. what about this too. St. Ignatius a sectional host? no lights, no parking, no parents. (What time are the games at? Most of the teams in the sectional semis and final will be from the west suburbs..Beth Saucer most of been sauced when making this choice too!

That's what happens when you have idiots running things. Sort of like Bush running the country.

I agree. I play for a high school team. Though we didn't get a very good seeding, we tied the #10 in our sectional, and the #7 team in another sectional. Not to mention we have teams on our schedule that we can beat who are seeded better than us. I believe they should wait at least two more weeks. We just did start our conference games the week before the meeting, and we only got 3 games in. Now I know 0-2-1 isn't at all a good conference record, but they were close games. They should be a little bit fairer and wait to see where to seed teams. Another thing we are getting sent down about 45 minutes away from our school, when there are two regionals being hosted bout 5-10 minutes away from us, what is that???
