Anyone ready for a little soccer this weekend?

On Friday, I'll be at St. Ignatius before heading to the Class A state finals in Naperville. Also covering the state finals for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (stltoday.com). On Saturday, I'll be at Naperville Central, Riverside-Brookfield, Lemont and then back to the Class A state finals.

On Sunday, I'll be in the office for the 2008 Sun-Times All-Area Boys Soccer Team photo. On Monday, you'll be able to read a nice little soccer feature in the paper. On Tuesday, I'll be at Loyola University.

Where will you be?

Keep up the good work Joe! You're all we got now for high school soccer in Chicago.

I will be at St. Ignatius. Eating an Al's beef and watching HC win. Beautiful School. Surroundings are still a dump, so is the facility, campared to others we have played at all year.

I like the idea of having one of the final four teams in the sectional host. Let's be honest. Very Rarely will a city school be a sectional semi game (some people have been talking about moving all city schools to 2A), they don't have the coaching power and player talent that suburb schools have.

"A dump"- Stay in the suburbs you arrogant cardboard cutout. You know very little of what you see.

Thanks to St. Ignatius for hosting this sectional. All the Hinsdale Central fans I know and sat with agreed that the school, soccer facility and cityscape backdrop were spectacular. Don't let the comments of an arrogant few shape your view of our school, team and community. Go Red Devils!

Easy HC Man...there is a ton of talent in the city that has not been tapped into...they just don't have the wallet that the you in the suburbs have to play with the "select clubs" and travel all over to play games. If given the attention even close to basketball in CPS, you would see city teams drive to 55th and Grant and show you that they can even beat your beloved Red Devils...ask Wiggins, he will tell you his thoughts before the MC game and how good they were and how they scared him.
Why do you think IHSA was so involved in your sectional...because none of the suburb teams wanted to play Mt. Carmel, Kelly, or any other CITY team because those coaches know of the talent in the city and their style of play is very different from suburb soccer.
As far as hosting a game with the final 4 left in the sectional, great idea, but a weekday game at HC that goes to overtime will be like the world series...continued over a period of 3 days because they don't have lights...just like Ignatius, which you term a "dump."
A good player and a good team will play good soccer regardless of how torn up the field is...look back at the great players in Illinois that played on mud fields before the turf was put in place.
If those players can't play well, then they are not complete players and cannot adjust their play to win.

Holy Cow! Look at all the city teams in the elite 8...enough said. Those city champs did a great job.

HC all the way.

Anyone no anything about Tinley Park (Andrew) my son plays on the Edwardsville Soccer team and we play them for a trip to state on Tuesday in Normal.

HC Fan. I was at the game Hinsdale played versus Morton. I was not there to see any team in particular. I was just there as a soccer fan wanting to see a good game. On that day, the better team did not win. Morton was way better than HC on every level. Unfortunately, soccer doesn't reward a team for being better. Sometimes LUCK has something to do with it. Stop being a cocky person and stop ripping on others. You're like the sox fans who talk crap because their week little team got lucky and won a game.

Joe,

Did that soccer feature ever come out in Monday's edition, because I did not see it? When will the All-Area boys team be released???

R the 2A State Finals going to be as competitive as the 1A?? Winnebago and even Gibault likely could have won 2A titles perhaps...although the Peoria schools will be very tough...

We actually decided to run the feature in Tuesday's paper. As for the All-Area Team, you'll have to keep looking to see it. I disagree about Winnebago or Gibault winning Class 2A. I think the 2A Final Four will be just as good as the 3A Final Four.

We just couldnt leave your website before saying that we really enjoyed the quality information you offer to your visitors... Will be back often to check up on new stuff you post!
