I'm back and CPS/Public still confuses me...

As much as I love running the Pepsi Showdown powered by ComEd, not going to lie - it takes a lot of time. And if it wasn't for so many great people involved in, I have no idea how we could pull it off.

But after taking a break from a lot of things to focus on the tournament, I can now refocus on the world of soccer.

Guess what?

Just when you think the CPS Public League Sports Administration can't do anything else wrong, you start to wonder what the overall IQ is in that office.

First things first - kudos to the office under the direction of Calvin Davis for not waiting until the last second to rent lights for the city championship (as was the case last year).

Secondly, it's great to see that a college site will be hosting the city championship this year. That should be the case every year.

But what in the heck are they doing by having North Central College IN NAPERVILLE host the Public League (in the CITY OF CHICAGO) city championship?

How many people from the city are going to head to North Central College on a weeknight to watch the city championship? If the Public League is going to bus them, it's going to cost more money. Don't you think kids would have a better opportunity watching the game in the city than finding a ride to Naperville?

But wait - is it at North Central College? I learned late this afternoon that the schedule soccer coordinator Juan Espinoza sent out was wrong. It had a typo.

I know a thing about typos - things happen. According to Frank Shuftan, CPS communications spokesman, the game will take place at North Park University in Chicago.

Isn't it sad though that I even thought it really could be at North Central - like it read? But I've learned never to put anything past CPS.

Nice try for a Spin Joe, but we all know that you and the fools who listen to you screwed up again. Only you would think CPS would play a city title game in Naperville. there was no typo.

Calvin Davis has 31 citywide interscholastic sports
(on 3 levels) to oversee for the high school girls and boys. He also has 17 sports on 2 levels in the citywide elementary school program. This Davis guy has been a teacher, a coach, a coordinator, and a principal for over 25 years in the system and knows his craft. Excuse me but what have you done, or run other than your mouth?
If the newspaper is smart, you will be taking a hike soon.

Good to have you back. Keep writing Joe!!!!! (But St. Viator in the top 10? come on.....)

Honestly, it's a pure crap shoot after No. 1-2.

Varsity City Championship at North Central University……7:00pm. Copied straight from what Juan Espinoza - who still has a job in Calvin Davis' department - sent out. Send me your email address, and I'll be more than happy to forward it so you can see.

But I'll doubt you'll do that. Keep reading!

Maybe he has a job cause he does great things for the benefit of CPS soccer. What have you done for anyone??? You need Jesus in your life Joe.
