Guzan blog: U.S. Men's National Team wins opening game
Guzan blog: Opening Ceremonies will never be forgotten »
« Brad Guzan's second blog from the Olympics

Brad Guzan, goalie for the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team, will blog throughout the Summer Games in China. And the only place you'll be able to find it is right here.

With that said, here's Guzan's third blog...

Well, we are back at the hotel after just finishing our first game. We beat Japan 1-0. There was a lot of hard work, mentally and physically that went into those 90 minutes and the weather conditions did not help the situation.

I think I heard it was in the high 90's, but the humidity made it feel like 115. The atmosphere in the stadium was unbelievable and to be able to hear your national anthem being played at the Olympics, simply gives you goose bumps. We had a few different pockets of USA fans scattered throughout the stadium, and when I first walked out before warm-ups was able to catch a glimpse of my family.

Glad to see they made it over safely! The second game of the evening was the other two teams in our group - Nigeria and Holland - which finished 0-0. So that puts us at the top of our group.

We know we still have two very tough games ahead, but after some good rest tonight we will be ready to go for our game on Sunday. I'm not sure how many of you got up at 4 a.m. in the morning to watch the game, but if you did - I tip my hat to you!

Thank you for all of your support from back home. As an athlete, I can tell you that it is extremely exciting knowing the entire world is watching these games and know everyone back home is pulling for us.

The Opening Ceremonies on Friday should be an exciting and interesting day. Hopefully, I will have some pictures for you all.

Until next time,
Brad Guzan
U.S. Men's National Soccer Team
