This is the so-called last official weekend of the summer.

You know what I say to that - whatever. Wasn't it 90-plus degrees last Columbus Day Weekend when people were dropping like flies during the Chicago Marathon?

Nevertheless, I'll be out scouting the site for the summer Pepsi Showdown (stay tuned) and then finding my way to a boat.

Here's the best storyline next Tuesday - St. Ignatius vs. Young. If the Wolfpack wins, it will be the 400th career win for coach Jim Luzzi. It also could come against former Wolfpack alum Ian McCarthy, who now coaches Young.

Enjoy the weekend...

Wolfpack Defeat Dolphins; Coach Luzzi Nabs Win #400

The Wolfpack boys soccer team was looking to avenge their opening day loss and make history for their head coach on Tuesday evening against the Dolphins of Whitney Young at DePaul University. With a victory Coach Jim Luzzi would accomplish something only a handful of coaches in Illinois have done-- 400 wins! Everett Mumford opened the scoring at the 18-minute mark of the first half on an assist from Kevin Daley. Zak Allen (7 saves) picked up his first shut-out and Max Williams sealed the 400th win, scoring with 10 minutes to play on a feed from Misgina Tesfamicael. The 2-0 victory over the Dolphins marked Coach Luzzi’s first win of 2008 and 400th win in his 38th season as the head soccer coach at Saint Ignatius. Coach Luzzi started the program in 1970 and has a career record of 400-360-82. Congratulations to Coach Luzzi on this remarkable accomplishment!
