I'm glad I didn't go to Vegas with my pick. But I should've known better - you never pick against a champion.
And when it comes to the Pepsi Showdown, Wheaton South has the Pepsi logo tatoo'd on its chest like the 'S' on Superman.
Granted, ithe Pepsi Showdown is only a 32-team seeded tournament. But as one person asked me today - is it time for the IHSA to look at a new state system?
Out with sectionals, in with eight regions that are seeded and feed into the state quarterfinals?
Thoughts?

Nice idea - but you will never get the IHSA to change the format . They operate through fear and ignorance . Fear because they are afraid that they will lose control of high school soccer in Illinois if they give an inch to any independent suggestions . Ignorance because they have no clue what is best for the PLAYERS . Yes folks , like the famous movie quote , "you're what this is all about" . Let's for once decide what's best for the players .
Any idea that the IHSA would prevent our kids from playing at the home of the Chicago Fire MLS team is a joke . It illustrates that they have no interest in moving the sport forward for our boys and girls but are only concerned in preserving an antiquated system that is primarily run for the benefit of the association and the coaches.
One positive piece of news is that the IHSA is considering going to a 3 Class system for soccer . Not decided yet , but an improvement to say the least.
They really need to make another class or even 2 because the neuqua valleys, new triers, and other large schools can basically get the bus ready for state with the arsenal of students they can choose from. Some of the teams that made it to super-sectionals should be in their own class with what they have done, with so little amount of students.
