We're in St. Paul -- staying in Minneapolis -- for the upcoming Republican National Convention -- which kicks off tomorrow. Many of today's events were scaled back due to the hurricane crisis in the southern part of the country. Check back this week for schedule updates and much more as we blog the convention -- or the parts being held -- from Minnesota.

Glad I'm not with Food Not Bombs, since they were raided yesterday. Glad I didn't drive my bus from Montana, and have it confiscated. Glad I didn't go their to document the protests, and have all my equipment confiscated. Yay GOP, bringing thought crime from literature to life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-HbeloJFc4
Recording the behavior of your government is apparently against the law now. Go FISA!!
Thank goodness it was not a Katrina..The levees are still inadequate and obviously Bush and Co have failed their duty. Surges are the problem yet many of the Levees are still too low and inadequate. there seems to be a malaise about what should have been done. Other countries have limited storm surges by building barriers eg London and the Thames River. Having visited New Orleans in recent years I was appalled by the lack of progress and the way it has basically been left. some reconstruction has occurred but as this storm shows not enough.
Maybe the Republican Convention should accept responsibility for its abject failure and basic disregard for the people of New Orleans. McCain is just a continuation of the mis management and uncaring approach to lower class and middle class people in souther America.
