The Chicago Red Stars announced Tuesday the
addition of midfielder Sophie Reiser as a developmental player and the
release of midfielder Jackie Santacaterina, fron suburban Geneva.
Reiser was selected by the Red Stars in the fifth round (42nd overall) of the 2010 WPS Draft out of Columbia University. The Seattle, Wash., native played for the Red Stars in the preseason but was dealt a setback with a stress fracture in her shin.
Reiser is a three-time All-Ivy League First Team player who was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2008. She holds Columbia's assists record with 28, is ranked second in points (83) and third in goals scored (26).
