Soccer named Omid Namazi as its new head coach on Thursday.
Namazi 's debut will be Sunday when the Red Stars (2-4-1) hosts the Atlanta Beat (0-5-1) at 5 p.m. (Fox Soccer Channel). Helping Namazi on the sidelines will be University of Illinois women's soccer coach Janet Rayfield as an assistant, and Nathan Kipp for goalkeeping.
Namazi was the head coach of the San Diego Spirit of the Women's United Soccer Association.
