Oregon State fired head women's basketball coach LaVonda Wagner after several losing seasons and a player exodus. Wagner, 68-85 in five seasons, had four players, including leading scorer Talisa Rhea get releases in April. Two others left the program during the season.

Wagner was named the Beavers' coach in 2005 after serving as an assistant at Duke, Illinois, under Theresa Grentz,  and East Tennessee State.
