The Marin Report is a quick video recap of the day's top stories from renowned reporter Carol Marin. Watch it each weekday at noon.

Here are the stories we're following today:

• Good news. The homicide rate is down. Dramatically for February, reports the Sun-Times' Stefano Esposito.

• March is the busiest month in Chicago for filling winter's potholes. But here's some good news: Chicago says the number of pothole complaints is down this season, which runs November through March.

• Potholes are not a problem if you ride the el. But if you ride the Brown Line, get ready for a week of disruptions beginning tonight.

The Blackhawks go for their 200th consecutive sellout at the United Center tonight! They extended their point streak to 20 games to start the season last night in St. Louis in a 3-0 win over the Blues.
