If Derrick Rose doesn't experience any pain in warmups, he will start today against the Hawks at the United Center. Rose participated in practice Sunday, took contact and was cleared by the training staff to play today, but Tom Thibodeau still gave Rose a game time classification.
Backup point guard C.J. Watson hit in the head late in the third quarter of Saturday's home loss to the Nets and did not return. Thibodeau said Watson was being held out for precautionary reasons.
If Rose is unable to go, veteran Mike James will get the start.
"He [Rose] went through practice yesterday, didn't have any problems," Thibodeau said. "He'll warm up and we'll see how he feels after that."
