Tom Thibodeau always preaches that his players are prepared and Ronnie Brewer has illustrated what that really means.
It takes more slashes to define Brewer's positions than write the date.
Since the season began Brewer has been in and out of the starting lineup resulting from injuries to guard Rip Hamilton and forward Luol Deng. Brewer has started in place of Hamilton and Deng at the shooting guard and small forward spots respectively. He's even been asked to play a little point guard.
"Thibs prepares you and tells you to come in with the early group and learn every position," Brewer said. "He tried to throw me in the point guard position a few times.
"You've got to be ready when your name is called and that's what I've been trying to do all season."
Brewer was brought to Chicago last season, most notably for his versatility. This year, however, he's greatly improved his baseline jump shot which has been an asset to the offense when opposing defenses collapse on Derrick Rose.
Last season Brewer primarily played off the bench.
