Bulls bring referees to camp

During the first two days of training camp at the Berto Center, the Bulls have used referees to make calls during scrimmages.

"We're striving to get it as game like as possible, so we're fortunate Ronnie Olesiak, who was an NBA official for a long time and one of the best officials in the history of the league [lives in the area]," coach Tom Thibodeau said.

"It's great for us and it also tells our players how things are gonna be called. All the little things, screening, traveling, he's right on top of it, so I think it helps prepare us for the season."

The officials, presumably, aren't calling technical fouls during the scrimmages, but Thibodeau wants his players aware that the league office has instructed the officials to crack down on excessive complaining by calling more technicals.

"It's a point of emphasis, so we want to play smart," he said. "We know we can't overreact to a tough call. We have to keep our poise and that's one of the things we talked about in our meeting."
