Scoring still the issue for Bulls

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks

The Bulls' hard work Tuesday night was apparent all over the stat sheet.

They had a 51-37 rebounding edge, a 14-5 edge in blocked shots and attempted 17 more field goals than the Los Anegles Lakers.

"Yeah," Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said, "but the biggest statistic is they scored more than us."

The difference in the Lakers' 96-87 win was the Bulls being outscored 24-14 in the fourth quarter.

Well they had 14 more rebounds because they held a 22-6 offensive rebound edge due to missing 17 more shots than the Lakers and many of those misses were from point blank range (lay-ups and put backs). Salmons, mostly due to early foul problems, had a dismal 2 points on 1 -5 shooting. They shot only 18% from beyond the arc and just 69% from the line. In the end that 24-14 fouth quarter is an indictment of the teams coaching ability to keep the team focused on execution. The Lakers defense didn't stop the Bulls, the Bulls missed open shots and lay-ups down the stretch.

Edgar I believe you are correct about the captcha discouraging some posters because I know quite often even when you type it correctly it says you had a submission error. Becuase of that I have started copying my post before itting submit so I don't have to try to remember what I posted. In fact this is my second attempt to post and I always double check what I typed in captcha prior to clicking submit.

The Lakers size, length and athleticism had plenty to do with yesterdays offensive struggles. I'd wait until mid-January, when Thomas should be near or at full strength, to gauge both sides of the ball. We don't have the depth to offset even a single loss from the first six players.
