On the day Derrick Rose was named as a participant in the Rookie Challenge during NBA All-Star Weekend, the rookie point guard announced he had decided to compete in the Skills Challenge during the All-Star Saturday lineup.
"I've put a lot of thought into it," Rose said Wednesday. "This could be a once-in-a-lifetime type thing. You never know what's gonna happen next year, so I think I'll do it."
Rose will have a busy weekend. The Rookie Challenge - rookies vs. sophomores - will be played Friday night, with the Skills Challenge a day later.
