Anybody who's ever attended an NBA game in FedEx Forum in Memphis knows it takes a lot to get the locals excited about a Grizzlies game, but the arena was abuzz long before the start of the Bulls-Grizzlies matchup Friday night because of the return of Derrick Rose.
Although Rose only spent one season at the University of Memphis, he made a lasting impression in leading the Tigers to the championship game of the NCAA tournament. To honor his return -- and take advantage of a rare marketing opportunity -- the Grizzlies sold lower level seats behind each basket for just $23, Rose's college number.
"Wow, that's really nice of them to do that," Rose said. "Yeah, it sort of feels like I'm in college again."
